Design a Drone workshop is an opportunity to empower the next generation of makers, designers, entrepreneurs and inventors in Years 7-12 to design a drone for any purpose. This will be a part of the World Drone Congress held at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 26-27. The purpose of this workshop is to give students an opportunity to meet those who work in the drone industry and to solve real world problems with the use of drones. Prizes include the DJI Tello Drones  which will be given to each individual on the winning teams for the best design and the best concept. During the session students will be grouped into threes to design solutions around themes and topics such as the Environment, Fire and Emergency Services, Social impact just to name a few.  Participating individuals will also receive a certificate of participation which they can use and add onto their resume. There will also be prizes up for grabs including some drones! The cost of the workshop is $50 per team of 3 (plus booking fee) but if you are experiencing any financial difficulties feel free to reach out to angela@hackathonsaustralia.com This is a World of Drones Education  initiative and will be run by Hackathons Australia.  -- FAQs What is a designathon? This is a workshop where we identify a problem and design a potential solution for the problem.  What should I bring? Your brilliant ideas! What's the agenda? We'll be going through problem topics, form teams, and come up with use cases for drones. At 4pm we'll be running through presentations for all the groups and announce the winners by 5pm.  Who can come? Anyone who is at school from years 7-12.  What if I don't have a team or know anyone else going? The beauty of this workshop is the ability to meet new people and work with them. This is a great networking and learning opportunity. How many people from a school can come? As many as you want! However we would recommend sending a maximum of 30 students per school.
Future Of Transport Hackathon With RACQ - High School Program
        23 Sep - 08:30 AM
        Eight Mile Plains, Australia
Our Future Of Transport school holiday program will see students from across Brisbane coming together for a day of innovation and ideation as they work with one of Queensland's leaders in the automotive space to redesign the future of transport.  From looking at how new companies such as Uber and GoGet are changing how we drive to looking at how we can use new and emerging technologies to help repair cars; our 'Future Of Transport' hackaton with RACQ will see students spending a day working with the RACQ team as they tackle a series of challenges associated with how we drive now, and into the future. This hackathon has been designed to fuse STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with entrepreneurship and innovation to provide a fun, fast-paced program for students as they work with industry mentors to innovate and create. Hosted at RACQ Headquarters in Brisbane, students will be exploring the range of exciting projects happening behind the scenes at RACQ and seeing how a business that is over 100 years old is embracing the new wave of innovation with technology. With no prior experience needed, this is a fantastic opportunity for passionate and driven young people over their school holidays.  FAQs  What time is the Event? Our hackathon will be running from 9am to 4pm. We will, however, have supervised free time for the students between 8:30am and 5pm should parents wish to drop students off early and pick them up later.  Who is the event for? Our Future Of Transport hackathon has been designed for high school students (grade 7-12) with interests in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business and design. No prior knowledge is required, all we ask is that students are passionate and willing to learn. What do we bring? We ask that students bring their own lunch each day as well as a water bottle and a device if they have one. We will be providing snacks throughout the day as well as pens and paper.  What will students have at the end of the day? By the end of the day students will be presenting their ideas formed by the challenges set to them around innovation in transport. Throughout the day they will be developing skills in critical and creative thinking, teamwork and collaboration, networking, pitching and design thinking.  Getting To The Venue? Students will be working out of the innovation space at the RACQ hub in Eight Mile Plains. There is plenty of parking as well as a drop off zone for students. There is also a bus stop just outside the front gates.  If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the team at info@bopindustries.com!
