    Design Dash: Service Design On 20th November, Skills of the Modern Age and Sqr One are joining forces to bring the Brisbane community three fast-paced, hands-on Design Dash modules covering some of the crucial design and innovation skills of today. Pick and choose the skills you'd like to learn about, or sign up for all three workshops - and make sure you join us for an exciting Design Leadership discussion and a drink in the evening! At its core, service design is about ensuring a service meets the needs and goals of its users. At its best, it has the ability to take a mundane or routine experience and surprise, delight and make the experience truly impactful. Featuring best-practice case studies and hands-on activities, this workshop will guide you through the process of mapping and improving experiences in your organisation. If you're delivering a product, service or solution and you want to know how to eliminate customer pain points, streamline their experience and create moments of surprise and delight, this bootcamp is for you. What you'll learn: ⚡️ The Service Design philosophy. Understand the core principles of service design and learn how it fits into a wider design toolkit. ⚡️ Customer journey mapping and blueprinting. Her international roots and multinational experience in Digital Transformation and User Experience have been a vital part of Ale’s 20 years’ experience working across 3 continents. Bernard Schokman has been helping professionals and groups turn challenges into pragmatic and innovative solutions using Design Thinking for the last 10 years. He's a master at applying Design Thinking to a wide range of gnarly industry problems, innovative user experiences, usability testing scenarios and process redesign and he's done this across multiple verticals. Most recently, he spearheaded the setup of the Innovation Lab in one of Australia’s iconic retail stores and facilitated their first-ever department-wide hackathon; while designing and usability testing their Augmented Reality shopping experience. Nate Sturcke is passionate educator and supporter of the local Perth innovation ecosystem. Over the last 5 years Nate has worked with over 4,000 entrepreneurs through a variety of programs, including the Silicon-Valley based Founder Institute accelerator; Google-backed Startup Weekend; and RAC SeedSpark seed fund. In both 2017 and 2018, Nate was awarded the WA Startup Community award for his role in promoting early stage entrepreneurship throughout the state. Matt Norman is a learning designer and facilitator working to transform education and training, starting in WA. He has over 5 years of experience running workshops with everyone from social impact professionals to at-risk youth, and has worked in advocacy and recruitment for the innovative Teach For Australia program. A graduate of both the Presencing Foundation Program on systems change, and the KAOSPILOT Masterclass in Learning Design, Matt’s passion is creating experiences that bring out the best in people.

Gone are the days when extensive business plans ruled the world of product and service development. Today, the ability to rapidly prototype your ideas and test their core assumptions with your users is critical to the speed, efficiency and ultimate success of your products and services. This workshop will share with you the knowledge, techniques and tools to rapidly prototype your product, service or solution, and to gain maximum learning with minimum investment of time and resources. We'll explore lo-fi and digital based approaches to prototyping that will arm you with the knowledge and tools to become a prototyping master. What you'll learn: ⚡️ Planning for your prototype. Learning how to break down your project into its core assumptions and identify the most important elements to test first. ⚡️ Tools and techniques. The techniques used to establish your prototype, including lo-fi models such as paper prototypes and digital models that utilise leading online tools. ⚡️ Prototyping strategies.             Are you an agent of change? The Brisbane Broncos, Advancing Regional Innovation Program (ARIP), in partnership with Ipswich City Council, invite you to participate in the #BroncosHack - the inaugural Broncos hackathon. The #BroncosHack is a collaborative competition that will bring together individuals with a range of relevant talents to discuss, brainstorm, and create an inventive solution. Innovation shapes the behaviour and demands of sports fans and the Brisbane Broncos want to proactively look at how they can support and improve challenges such as Fan engagement and Holistic Customer Journey.  PRIZES:  > Open box at the Suncorp Stadium for 10 mates with $500 worth of catering provided by the Broncos > Own your IP and a chance to work with the Broncos as your test subjects to develop your idea Note - This event is 18+ only event. Registration is now open to groups of up to 5 people or individuals with great ideas, passion and motivation to make it happen.               What if your idea couldn't fail? We know we need to innovate, but sometimes it seems risky.  The BOLT Asset Management Hackathon is a fun and safe environment to explore ideas and work together to create solutions to asset management challenges. Dedicate a day to work on asset management challenges in a collaborative environment and share ideas across industries and disciplines. Join your professional colleagues or bring a team for this intensive day of creativity and innovation.  What is the BOLT experience? You'll work in a team of three to five on the challenge you've chosen. We'll start at 9:00 am. This is the time for your team to narrow down the challenge you'll focus on. We'll work in short, intense 'bolts' and we'll keep the coffee coming.  You'll have expert guidance from Dr Monique Beedles, a globally recognised thought leader in asset management. You'll have access to curated tools and resources to help you through the process. By the end of the day your team will have a proposed solution to the challenge you've chosen. You'll have the chance to pitch your idea to your BOLT cohort and to industry guests. Take away a ready to use business case presentation for your chosen stakeholders. Who'll be there?
