Honey Hackathon
18 May - 05:30 PM
Crawley, Australia
This Honey Hackathon is to address industry challenges and create new business opportunities in solving them. Western Australian honey is the purest in the world as we have the healthiest bees. This is a result of our commitment to quarantine and the honey bees feeding from our vast stretches of endemic flora. The challenge is how can we make international markets recognise the value proposition of our honey? Professor Thierry Volery will lead the Hackathon. Thierry is the Head of the Marketing Discipline in the UWA Business School. The Hackathon weekend will: Start on Friday 18th May 5.30 pm – 8.30 pm to give you an overview of the WA honey bee industry, honey as a product and present marketing channels. Saturday 19th May 9 am – 5 pm will open with idea and group formulation and tools will be shared to crystallise your business idea. Experts will be coming in during the day to assist your group. Sunday 20th May at 9 am – 3 pm will be focussed on developing and presenting a pitch to investors. Experts will be coming in during the day to assist your group. Between 3 and 5 pm, each group will pitch to a panel and the winning team awarded a prize to assist them with the formation of their new company. The cost of this weekend is $80 per person which includes refreshments, lunch on both days and presentation drinks and canapés.
