The first Hackathon dedicated to technology objects connected to the city Mons, Belgium.

IIIF Community is part of the world’s leading research libraries and image repositories that have embarked on an effort to collaboratively produce an interoperable technology and community framework for image delivery. The event is devided into different IIIF events associated with the Ghent symposium: the technical pre-event workshop, the IIIF Community Roundtable, the Mirador Contributors Group, the Newspaper Interest Group, the Universal Viewer and Manifesto, and the Unconference.

Pizza Brainstormnight wedstrijd: Een loodzware doch enorm plezante nacht geïnspireerd op de befaamde hackathons, ondersteund door pizza en energy drinks. In groepjes van 5 zullen jullie heel de nacht (lees van 20u tot 8:00u 's ochtends!) een businesscase oplossen voor Pizzahut. Een unieke manier om inzicht te verwerven in probleem oplossend denken, in teamverband te werken en samen te brainstormen. Onder professionele begeleiding van mentors en experts, de heerlijke pizza's van de Pizzahut en nog enkele verassingen, wordt dit een unieke nacht. Om zo divers mogelijke teams te vormen, zijn de plaatsen voor de verschillende studierichtingen beperkt! Schrijf je snel in via Eventbrite om zeker te zijn van een plek. All over the world, millions of young people are doing internships with the hope of accessing full-time employment. This is essential as interns are the new generation of workers that will have to face the ever more complex political, social, economic and environmental challenges. Unfortunately, the majority of internships do not fulfil their role. They are, for the large part, unpaid and badly designed, with little learning content and supervision. This causes social inequality in accessing them and forces young people into a trap of never getting enough work experience to actually start working. We cannot accept a situation where young people, even after studies, have to work for free or are stuck for years in an uncertain transition to the labour market. This stops them from building their life and contributing to society. This is why we call on you to stand up for youth employment and interns rights on the first International Interns Day. The idea behind the day is to join forces internationally to act around two main objectives: 1) empowering the interns’ community and 2) achieving concrete political change. The programme is open source such that everyone can get ownership of it and bring their own actions to the day taking place simultaneously across the world both online & offline.   HACKATHON CLIMAT AVEC ENGIE ET LE GRAND NANCY Cette année, le label Grande cause nationale a été attribué à la lutte contre le dérèglement climatique : la France accueillera cet hiver la 21ème Conférence des parties à la Convention-cadre des Nations-Unies sur les changements climatiques (COP21). Que diriez-vous d'apporter votre pierre à l'édifice, et de venir coder durable ?   LE HACKATHON CLIMAT, QU'EST-CE QUE C'EST ? Un challenge motivant pour une attitude citoyenne : développeurs, ingénieurs, designers et autres super pouvoirs, la transition énergétique dans la ville n'attend que vous ! RDV le 6 novembre pour 48h de coding durable en équipe dans le hackathon organisé par ENGIE et Le Grand Nancy. QUE FAUT-IL FAIRE ? Votre objectif : développer en équipe le temps d'un week-end des applications mobile, web, objets connectés pour rendre la ville et ses habitants plus éco-responsables. Comment réaliser des économies d'énergie ? Comment optimiser les équipements publics en fonction des besoins ? (bâtiments connectés, pilotage automatisé, smart data, sensors...). De quelle manière impliquer les différents acteurs économiques, institutionnels, et citoyens ? (gamification, data visualization...) In one weekend, we build new tools for the building industry, using open data and open standards. How do you evaluate building designs? Can we optimise the exchange of building information? Iedereen kan op zijn of haar eigen niveau meedoen. Er zijn verschillende game ontwerp workshops zoals Scratch, Minecraft of Makey Makey. Verder zijn er weer Mini-hack-a-thons en introduceren we een Virtual Reality-workshop! Via Eventbrite is het mogelijk te reserveren voor een specifieke workshop. Alle tickets zijn geldig voor 1 kind en 1 workshop.
