What is a Hackathon? A Hackathon is an event where a group of volunteer developers gathers for the collaborative generation of ideas & prototyping over several days. It is a creative process frequently used in the field of digital innovation. The event often takes place on weekends to make it easier for employees or self-employed workers to be available. It can be organized by a school, a company, an administration, a specific sector, etc. There are no established rules governing this type of event. However, each time, the following essential points are included: Choice of projects by those who carry them out; Very short lead time; Group dynamics and the challenge of emulation or competition; The obligation to produce a working prototype. Friday evening: Presentation of the data and usable means, the guiding ideas or objectives sought ("pitch") by the project leaders; Vote of the participants (those who will develop) to select a number of projects proportional to the number of participants present, each selected project must have at least two or three developers/designers. Sometimes trainers or special guests are made available or creative techniques are encouraged ("Fly on the wall", "Graffiti Wall", "Immersive" techniques...) ; Team building, and development (for about 48 hours). Sometimes observers/mediators can intervene, reminding us of the role of icebreakers, leaders and teamwork. Saturday and Sunday: Intensive team project development; Regular contact with coaches to question, help and guide groups in their project development. Sunday afternoon: Demonstration of prototypes of part or all of the project in front of a jury of specialists (and sometimes with the opinion of the other teams and an invited audience); Award ceremony. Many prices to be won! Why should I participate? Special theme: "Smart Buildings for Smart Cities" Dedicated coachs for each approach (IT, International laws, Business, Scale-up, Pitch...) Stakeholders concerned by your issues, the possibility of networking with a direct impact on your activities; A possibility of supporting an innovative internal project to which you cannot devote time in a traditional way: multidisciplinary actors who can criticize your project, improve it. Maar volgende essentiële elementen zijn wel steeds aanwezig: Het project wordt uitgekozen door zij die eraan werken; Zeer korte doorlooptijd; Groepsdynamiek en de uitdaging van wedijver en concurrentie; De verplichting om een werkend prototype te ontwikkelen. Vrijdagavond: Voorstelling van de gegevens en de bruikbare middelen, de begeleidende ideeën en doelstellingen worden gezocht (“pitch”) door de groepsverantwoordelijken; Stemmen van de deelnemers (zij die zullen ontwikkelen) om een aantal projecten te kiezen dat overeenstemt met het aantal aanwezige deelnemers. Elk gekozen project moet minstens uit twee of drie ontwikkelaars/designers bestaan. Soms staan er trainers of speciale gasten ter beschikking of zullen creatieve technieken aangemoedigd worden (“Fly on the wall”, “Graffiti Wall”, “Immersieve” technieken…); Teambuilding en ontwikkeling (voor ongeveer 48 uur). Soms zullen observanten/bemiddelaars zich mengen om ons eraan te doen herinneren aan het belang van ijsbrekers, leiders en teamwork. Realdolmen organiseert in oktober 2019 de Warmste Hackathon. Na een succesvolle eerste editie, de R-IoT games https://www.realdolmen.com/nl/blog/internet-of-things-bewijst-maatschappelijke-waarde-tijdens-r-iot-games, willen we met jullie hulp het nog grootser aanpakken! Er wordt op verschillende locaties 24 uur lang gestreden voor de eer, mooie prijzen, goede karma én geld voor jullie zelf gekozen goede doel. Heb jij een uitmuntend idee en bovendien de juiste skills om een prototype te bouwen of een geniaal concept uit te denken? Ga dan de uitdaging aan en schrijf je samen met je team in voor de Warmste Hackathon! DE OPDRACHT “Maak van onze maatschappij een betere plek.” Gemakkelijker gezegd dan gedaan. Je mag dit heel breed zien, zolang er maar een bepaalde groep binnen onze maatschappij beter van wordt. Zie je bepaalde problemen bij jongeren, ouderen, VZW's, of misschien wel bij dieren? Of zie je eerder manieren om bepaalde processen veel eenvoudiger of sneller te maken? Denk outside the box, zolang de maatschappij er maar op een bepaalde manier z’n voordeel uit haalt. DE PLANNING DE HACKATHON De ingeschreven teams worden uitgenodigd in ons Realdolmen kantoor te Kontich, Gent en Odisee Brussel om in 24 uur hun idee uit te werken. De Hackathon zal van start gaan op 11 oktober 2019 om 18:00 en duurt tot 12 oktober, 22:00 uur. Wij voorzien gedurende 24uur verschillende coaches, een heleboel fun events en eten en drinken voor een klein leger wereldverbeteraars. Het volk en een jury kiezen uiteindelijk de terechte winnaars! NIET ZOMAAR EEN HACKATHON De verschillende teams zullen tijdens de hele Hackathon strijden tegen elkaar. Op verschillende manieren kunnen jullie credits verdienen door op een tactische manier de juiste competenties in te zetten. Daarnaast zal er tijdens de Hackathon ook een Social Voting systeem worden opengezet waarbij jullie ook geld gaan inzamelen voor het goede doel. De 10 ploegen met de meeste credits zullen uiteindelijk naar de finale gaan en hun idee/concept voorleggen aan het Realdolmen Management Comité dat ook Credits zal uitdelen. De ploegen die de meeste credits binnenhalen vallen in de prijzen. Mobility of the future is back, this time in Hasselt! The hackathon, which will take place from September 20-21, will tackle multiple challenges in the wide field of mobility. We’ll work together with industry partners who will bring forward challenges and who’ll also be present during the hackathon to give you guiding & coaching! Note: The hackathon is free of charge.
