PakathonTO started in 2014 as one of a dozen city chapters of a global non-profit, Pakathon, with the mission to bring people together to create technology-based solutions that tackle social and economic issues in Pakistan through our annual hackathon.Over the years, PakathonTO has noticed a gap in the Toronto young professionals space for opportunities to highlight and celebrate Pakistani changemakers. Young boys of colour -- aged 8 to 17 -- in and around Toronto! You're invited to participate in a robotics hackathon -- the Black Boys Code Toronto Fall 2017 Hackathon. You'll be challenged to design and program a physical robot to traverse obstacles. You'll also learn skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, and communication.

Presenters Guy Pearce - Managing Partner: REData Performance Consulting and Board Director: IIBA Guy Pearce (BSc, BCom, MBA) has served on various Boards in Banking, Financial Services and Retail over the last decade, as well as on their Risk, Audit, Governance and Credit Committees. He has also served as CEO of a multinational operation serving 100,000 customers in three countries with a staff complement of 700. He has published numerous articles and presented numerous keynotes on various aspects of governance, risk, IT and data around the world, and is interested in the competitive transformation potential and governance implications of Big Data, IoT, and Blockchain. His $94.95 million big data case study is an example of a practical outcome of this interest.   Denys Linkov - University of Toronto Computer Science Student / Tech Under Twenty Lead Denys is a third year student at the University of Toronto studying Computer Science. He enjoys reading, discussing and exploring everything related to tech, including Blockchain and Bitcoin. Denys leads the Silicon Halton Tech Under Twenty initiative and has interned at two Halton companies - Geotab and VL Omni in the two summers. Denys has been selected as a participant in EthWaterloo - the world's largest Ethereum hackathon.  He will be joining 300 other ambitious developers for the opportunity to build the decentralized future and work alongside the inventors of Ethereum.  He will be sharing his insights and experiences about the hackathon.

Agenda: Identify a use case for a blockchain application Design identities, entities, transactions Design network, consortium Use Node SDK to create application API Create secure web front end About the Trainer: Oleg Abdrashitov, Blockchain Practice Lead, Trainer Oleg Abdrashitov heads the Blockchain Practice at Altoros and the Requirements Working Group at Hyperledger. Oleg's career spans 20 years in software development for the financial services companies. He has built systems supporting high frequency trading, middle office and online exchanges. Oleg has worked at top investment banks, hedge funds and has founded startups and consultancies. He is currently engaged by clients in finance and insurance to train engineers and architects on blockchain. Together with team Altoros, Oleg won the blockchain hackathon at Consensus 2016 with Decentralized Energy Utility Project, and led delivery of a number of blockchain solutions. Some of the prototypes can be found in Hyperledger's demo directory: Distributed Clearing Platform For Derivatives, and Bond Issuance and Trading. The most recent project Oleg has been working on is Commercial Bonds Platform with National Settlement Depository. Oleg has delivered public Hyperledger Fabric classes in Boston, New York, San Francisco, as well as private training for corporate teams, and has been referred to as a highly competent instructor aspiring to bring students to the high level of understanding Fabric technology.
