    What Can YOUth Do 2017 is almost here! Sustainable Youth Canada, Waterloo Region Environmental Network and Sierra Youth are excited to partner local NGO’s, academics, entrepreneurs and politicians with passionate youth interested in discussing sustainability in Waterloo Region! Following last year’s success, this year’s event will focus on finding local and innovative solutions to climate change. Please join us on September 20th, 2017 from 5-9PM at the Centre for International Governance Innovation for an evening of discussion, networking and knowledge sharing. The evening will include a panel of notable speakers, exhibits of local organizations, complimentary refreshments, followed by a hackathon to build ideas that we can put into action.       AquaHacking is a five-month long hack-a-thon that catalyzes stakeholders who want to protect our freshwater – citizens, decision makers, practitioners, researchers, NGOs – to take action. AquaHacking challenges young digital designers and coders, aspiring water experts and entrepreneurs to develop applications that raise awareness about water issues, and that solve water problems. There is $75,000 in prize money available, in addition to access to local accelerators and mentors for winning teams. The Challenge: Water experts, hackers, engineers, and other creative minds work together as a team for 10 weeks to develop functional, marketable innovations to help solve Lake Erie’s water issues. The competition runs from April - September, with semi-finals in June and the finals in September. Anyone 18 or older is welcome. We are looking for creative minds, whatever their field of expertise, but especially students, water researchers, developers, digital designers, programmers, engineers, technology enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and people who want to save the world!
