AquaHacking 2017 United for Lake Erie

AquaHacking is a five-month long hack-a-thon that catalyzes stakeholders who want to protect our freshwater – citizens, decision makers, practitioners, researchers, NGOs – to take action. AquaHacking challenges young digital designers and coders, aspiring water experts and entrepreneurs to develop applications that raise awareness about water issues, and that solve water problems.
There is $75,000 in prize money available, in addition to access to local accelerators and mentors for winning teams.
The Challenge:
Water experts, hackers, engineers, and other creative minds work together as a team for 10 weeks to develop functional, marketable innovations to help solve Lake Erie’s water issues.
The competition runs from April - September, with semi-finals in June and the finals in September.
Anyone 18 or older is welcome. We are looking for creative minds, whatever their field of expertise, but especially students, water researchers, developers, digital designers, programmers, engineers, technology enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and people who want to save the world!

Hack for Craft Hackathon - Girls ages 10-13

On March 26th, we will be collaborating with Shecosystem for our "Hack for Craft" Hackathon!For girls ages 10-13, we will be using a variety of different software to code, design and make our ideas come to life. The challenge: Finding a way to support local and international artisans through technology. During this 3-hour hackathon, girls will be divided into teams and work collaboratively, while being mentored by their team leader. Girls will learn how the power of technology can change the lives of others (and themselves!), and understand the importance of keeping arts, craft and creativity alive.
No experience necessary!

Maker Tech School is an after school program for youth, located in Toronto and York Region.We provide a learning experience that teaches youth the fundamental skills of digital literacy and design, while encouraging them to become innovators and creators of technology in a collaborative environment.
