The ConcordAI Artificial Intelligence workshop part 1 will cover Linear, Polynomial, and Logistic Regression, and Pytorch implementation. The second part of the ConcordAI Artificial Intelligence workshop will take place on Saturday November 3. Both workshops are open to all. With the ConcordAI Hackathon coming up on November 11th, this two part pre-ConcordAI Hackathon workshop bootcamp will focus on the topics that will best prepare everyone to perform for the real-world AI projects they will encounter during the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon. Note that in order to be eligible to join the ConcordAI 2019 winter cohort for the 12-week student startup mentorship program, participation in the Hackathon is required. More details to come.

Julia Ghorayeb Zamboni, Julia Salles, and Luciano Frizzera will present and demo PICT.IO, a collaborative game for humans and machines Layial El-Hadi, Graduate Program Director, Graduate Certificate in Innovation, Technology and Society, Concordia University Responsible Investment & Curriculum Lead, FormFintech Sydney Swaine-Simon: Co-founder of District 3 Innovation Centre, which is one of the largest incubators in Quebec, and NeuroTechX, which has the world’s largest network of neurotechnology enthusiasts. He advised 12 Montreal-based startups in the IBM AI XPrize competition, 7 of which advanced to the next round of 59 total teams, giving Montreal the most advancing teams of any city in the world. Dr. Sabine Bergler, Professor in Computer Science at Concordia University, and a founder of the Computational Linguistics Lab at Concordia (CLAC). She has lead groundbreaking research in sentiment analysis and language semantics, and has close to 100 published works on computational linguistics, bioinformatics, and machine intelligence. Although artificial intelligence is clearly relevant to fields such as computer science and software engineering, it is also extremely important to be informed about the ways in which AI is changing other domains such as finance, economics, retail, marketing, art, healthcare, life sciences, engineering, social sciences, and many others. On October 7th, 2018, we will be hosting our Discover ConcordAI Event. This event will include presentations from professors, researchers and entrepreneurs in the fields of artificial intelligence, innovation, and technology. Artificial Intelligence Concordia will use this opportunity to inform attendees about our ConcordAI hackathon as well as our 12 week startup student mentorship program. ConcordAI's events, workshops, AI Hackathon, and 12 week startup student mentorship program are generously sponsored by the Concordia Student Union. From 4 PM, attendees may enter, check in, and will be offered, coffee, hors d'oeuvres, and drinks until presentations begin at 5 PM. TD and CBC Radio Canada  are looking for your help to create a social innovation initiative that will improve the positive impact the companies have on their respective communities. A week before the challenge, we'll release a case developed by the company to help guide your team in developing a solution. Hack from a hammock on the Montreal waterfront this summer.   MonBUG Description MonBUG (Montreal Bioinformatics Users Group) (http://www.monbug.ca) is an association of researchers, professionals and students in the greater Montreal area who have an interest in the field of bioinformatics. Through monthly meetings we present our work, ask questions, share ideas, tips and tricks. Meetings are held either at the Institut de Recherches Cliniques de Montréal (IRCM), and are free and open to all.  Hack challenges Molecular biology is faced with an avalanche of data. Few researchers have the skill sets to handle the data, and there is a paucity of commercial software programs to handle the data. During the hackathon, you will be given one dataset on which to apply machine learning techniques. No prior knowledge of machine learning or molecular biology is required. The winners get bragging rights, a MonBUG (Montreal Bioinformatics User Group) t-shirt, and an opportunity to advance scientific knowledge. This year, exceptionally, our sponsor, Streamline Genomics (http://www.streamlinegenomics.com/) will also be providing a prize. During our hackathon, we’ll hack with motility of bacteria, algae and other micro-organisms to do just that! We’ll be working on setting up microscopy systems of which we can collect images for making interactive installations. We’ll be designing and testing microfluidic labyrinths through which fungi will move, and we'll work on visualising cell growth in a comprehensible and appreciable way through data visualisation and artistic interpretations. IT Connect is a conference that brings together IT professionals who are passionate about the future of networking. This year, IT Connect will be dedicated to the theme Internet of Things (IoT), featuring keynote speakers, workshops, online presentations, opportunities for networking and more! There will also be a Champ-IoT Hackathon occurring a week prior to the conference – on June 2-3, 2018, between 9:00am and 4:30pm. The winners will be announced during IT Connect 2018. Experts predict that by 2020 there will be over 30 billion devices forming the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT refers to the connection of physical devices, home appliances, vehicles and many other systems in a manner that enables them to share information amongst each other. IoT will impact the way we do things not only in IT but across different fields: medicine, industrial, mechanics, arts, etc. Join us at IT Connect 2018 to strengthen your knowledge of this increasingly popular area of IT. As a public college, Champlain Saint-Lambert has been offering numerous Information Technology (IT) AEC programs over the years, most notably our IT Client Support, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP programs as well as our DEC in IT Network Management. Champlain is also both a Cisco Networking Academy and an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy. This conference is therefore an ideal way to keep up to date on the ever-growing field of networking.

Congratulations on your acceptence to the hackathon! Over the course of a weekend, you'll be challenged to work on a social problem with a diverse team of passionate individuals from across Canada. You'll participate in workshops and get expert mentorship from the Montreal AI community. Note: All the proceeds will go towards charity.
