Canadian hackers, designers, developers, and engineers! You're invited to apply to be one of 70 participants in Hacking Mental Health in the Workplace @eHealth TO Conference 2017. You'll work with researchers and power users from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to tackle one of nine project challenges for workplace mental health and wellbeing. If your project prototype is selected, there's up to $75,000 in funding available to fully develop it into a validated mental health solution.

Lawyers, paralegals, company executives, entrepreneurs, designers, coders, and data analysts in and around Toronto! You're invited to participate in Toronto's Legal Tech Hackathon. You'll collaborate on a team to design and prototype a software solution to a challenge related to the legal industry. Your solution will help law firms and in-house legal departments better manage their firms. You will select your challenge from the one of the following: 1.Develop a multiple voice to text solution for transcripts. 2.Develop an AI platform to streamline review of legal documents. 3.Develop a platform to monitor progress on a file assigned to lawyers. 4.Wildcard: Your own idea to solve a problem faced by the legal industry.

Ben Newton, Director of E-commerce Ecobee Ben Newton has focused on marketing for new ventures and corporate startups for over 16 years. In addition to managing e-commerce and digital advertising for ecobee, he's worked on internal startups at iconic Canadian companies like Loblaws (eGrocer, PC Points, PC Bank), Rogers Ventures (Zoocasa & Thoora), and held a variety of consulting roles with brands such as Just-Eat. Ben's interests in AI and machine learning centre around understanding & influencing consumer behaviour and improving sales conversion. Giri Amarakone, CEO deepPiXEL Giri is a 20 year technology and startup veteran. He has held various technical/marketing roles in large companies and startups both in Toronto and Silicon Valley. He spent the last 8 years in the Valley working for NVIDIA on key AI and machine learning projects. Last year he started an innovative AI startup in Toronto which works with medium and larger companies reduce support costs and increase their engagements. deepPiXEL is now part of the Department of Computer Science Innovation Lab at UofT, and is currently headquartered out of IBM's downtown Innovation space.
