Documentorum - Academic Credentials on the Blockchain
15 Mar - 06:00 PM
Toronto, Canada
$1 deposit gets refunded upon check-in Luiz Gustavo Ferraz Aoqui graduated in 2012 from University of São Paulo with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and has been working as a lead engineer for IBM Canada since 2013. His work is focused on software development in the areas of web, cloud, mobile and blockchain. He is the technical leader for the Cognitive Class learning platform and the Documentorum accreditation network. Documentorum is a global initiative focused on tackling the issue of fraud in academic accreditation. It leverages blockchain technology to build trust among educational institutions, government bodies, independent learners and employers. Each document that is issued is automatically verified and endorsed by the relevant parties and is permanently stored in the tamper-proof ledger within the blockchain, so its authenticity can be always guaranteed. In 2017, Luiz was part of one of the winning teams of ETHWaterloo, the world's largest Ethereum hackathon, with over 300 participants. The winning project was called Provt, a web application that allows anyone to upload a file's metadata to the Ethereum blockchain so it can later be used by any other person to verify its integrity and provenance.
