Smart Cities Housing Hackathon
23 Mar - 09:00 AM
Whitehorse, Canada
What is the Smart Cities Challenge?
The Smart Cities Challenge is a pan-Canadian competition open to communities of all sizes to use technology to solve a problem or pursue an opportunity that is important to the community. (co)space by Yukonstruct, the collaborative shared workspace for entrepreneurs, is leading a collaborative effort with the City of Whitehorse in this challenge, with support from the Government of Yukon.
Our first task was to identify challenge statements for the community’s consideration and selection. Community involvement is one of the criteria for the Smart Cities Challenge application. If successful, the application could earn the City up to $5 million, $10 million or up to $50 million to implement the solutions.
This will be a public event where we will convene to:
1. Understand Whitehorse' Smart Cities Challenge at a deeper level
2. Identify ideas and potential solutions to this challenge
3. Finding ways to bring these ideas and plans to life to achieve real and positive outcomes
The goal of this hackathon will be to find potential technologicalsolutions to the availability and affordability of housing in Whitehorse. This event will be facilitated using a social innovation approach, Hands-on and participatory. Come be a part of shaping the future of Whitehorse
