FND Hackathon
12 May - 10:00 AM
Herning, Denmark
Climate changes and natural disasters, such as earthquakes, tsunamis, heat waves and hurricanes, etc are causing fatal incidents and destructions for billions of euros each year. In a time where mankind need to harvest the earth’s renewable sources, it can seem ironic that the world’s primary renewable energy sources are causing so much destruction and limiting the access to electricity. The hackathon is aiming at methods for forecasting natural disasters based on remote sensing and in situ data such as the European satellite program, Copernicus. In addition, it is sought to propose and develop innovative technological solutions to tame and harvest the energy potential of natural disasters. The ultimate aim is to build a forecasting method, predicting the catastrophic event itself, and estimating the impact on the energy grid, using real-time data. The best solution will be awarded with a money prize and admission to University Startup World Cup! Facts about the hackathon:O Date - 12th and 13th may, 2018.
