MEDIENBERGHACK19 [ English version below ] Die VRM (www.vrm.de) veranstaltet gemeinsam mit dem next media accelerator (NMA) vom 14. bis 16. November 2019 den #Medienberghack19 in Mainz – eine Wiederauflage der erfolgreichen Hackathon*-Veranstaltung des vergangenen Jahres. Die VRM ist ein regionales Medienunternehmen im Rhein-Main-Gebiet und in Mittelhessen mit Hauptsitz in Mainz und beschäftigt mehr als 1750 Mitarbeiter an 36 Standorten. Rund 2 Millionen User besuchen jeden Monat die 16 Nachrichtenportale der VRM sowie die reinen digitalen Angebote wie VRM Stories oder die VRM Mediathek. KG  (www.vrm.de)  hosts the #Medienberghack in Mainz from November 14.-16. 2019. They joined forces with next media accelerator and the Google News Initiative in order to create a three day Hackathon. Since last year’s edition was a huge success the media company decided to do it all again in 2019. The motto will be “Smart Future” and encompasses all smart innovation fields such as Smart Mobility, Smart City and Smart Media. Experienced mentors and jury members will coach the teams and help them shape and sharpen their ideas.  This year’s highlight: The teams will benefit from developer and tech resources, which are usually not that easy to access.  FAQ - #Medienberghack: WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT? Like indicated by the motto “Smart Future” - the hackathon is designed around the topics Smart Media, City and Mobility: Tomorrow’s quick thinkers, digital frontrunners and visionaries should already connect today in order to work on ideas on how the future can be shaped based upon those smart technologies. The VRM  (www.vrm.de)  is a regional Media Company for the western and southern Rhine-Main region. Its headquarter is located in Mainz (Erich-Dombrowski-Str. 2). According to the company itself the VRM has a reach of around one million readers in the Hessen area. It employs around 1.750 people in  36 locations.  WHY WE WANT YOU? Ideally, you already bear a certain idea in mind which you would like to foster and develop. With your (newly assembled) team you will be able to hack, build and validate and finely tune your concept as quick as possible. Like that you will be able to qualify for one of the main or special prizes. Swap knowledge with developers, managers, editors, artists and hobbyists. Even if you do not have a certain idea yet - do not shy away from partaking. We are sure you are able to contribute with motivation, your very own skill tool kit and a network which we all can benefit from.  WHO IS ALLOWED TO JOIN? Anybody! Ranging from hackathon newbie to hackathon pro. Developers, managers, editors, artists and hobbyists, journalists or the ones simply curious about the startup branche. You are all welcome to sign up.  DO I NEED AN IDEA? Not necessarily. Of course it would quicken and facilitate the entire process if you already had one, but it is not a prerequisite. Just motivation, a laptop and - best case - an idea already. Everything else will be provided for. We will cover food and beverages during the three hack days. Wer gerne an seiner eigenen Idee zum Thema Smart Energy, Monitoring und Metering arbeiten und in kleinen Teams gemeinsam innovative Anwendungsfälle oder Prototypen entwickeln möchte, ist beim Energize IT-Smart Energy Hackathon genau richtig. Der Hackathon findet am 28. und 29. September 2019 in Karlsruhe mit einer Fachjury statt. Während auf alle spannende Kontakte und jede Menge Erfahrung wartet, dürfen sich die ersten drei Gewinner-Teams zudem über Geld- oder Sachpreise freuen. Über den Hackathon Für den Energize IT-Smart Energy Hackathon am 28. und 29. September 2019 werden Programmierer und Nicht-Programmierer gesucht, die gerne an ihren eigenen Ideen zum Thema Smart Energy, Monitoring und Metering arbeiten und gemeinsam in kleinen Teams innovative Anwendungsfälle oder Prototypen entwickeln möchten. Wer kann mitmachen? Jeder, der selbst Strom nutzt, kann mitmachen. In jedem Team sollten aber mindestens ein bis zwei Programmierer sein, die Ideen auch entwickeln können. Insgesamt gibt es Raum und Platz für maximal 42 Hacker. Die Mentoren vor Ort freuen sich, den Teilnehmern mit Rat und Tat zur Seite zu stehen. Was erwartet die Teilnehmer? Die Teilnehmer arbeiten gemeinsam mit einem bis maximal vier weiteren Interessierten an einem Projekt und erwecken ihre Ideen zum Leben. Nachdem bis zu 26 Stunden gehackt wurde, werden die Prototypen vor einer Fachjury präsentiert. Jeder der vier Juroren lässt seine Expertise mit in die Bewertung einfließen, sei es aus der Forschung, der Softwareentwicklung oder aus der Energiewirtschaft.

During a two days game jam the participaiting teams aim to develop first game prototypes on the subject of Europe. The game ideas are to centre around diversity, democracy, and freedom. The prototypes developped will be played and presented on a large LED-screen on the Schlossplatz in the centre of Stuttgart city. The game jam is organised by the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) in cooperation with the Institut français Stuttgart and the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
