RHoK Bengaluru Hackathon
23 Mar - 10:00 AM
Bengaluru, India
Random Hacks of Kindness India is a part of a global community of technologists and changemakers who are 'hacking for good'. Twice a year, we run hackathons that bring together volunteer developers and tech-savvy do-gooders to work with charities, community groups and social enterprises.
RHoK events are conducted by local communities who have an understanding of the city/town and its issues. This event brings technologists and stakeholders of a community in the same room, then provide them with the tools and space they need to create solutions to humanitarian challenges. Solutions created during these events need support hence we help these solutions sustain through an open source release and by partnering with organizations who can nurture them.
Problem Statements
Building an assistive tech product experience platform by S.R.I Labs: Currently, the majority of the persons with disabilities are not aware of the latest assistive technology products available. Due to this reason, they are losing a precious opportunity that will help them find better opportunities to lead a better life. Build an Assistive tech product experience platform to solve this. The platform should profile the individual with a disability, ask about the challenges faced and suggest the best possible solutions around the globe. Also design systems for people with disability to easily engage with service providers.
TrashMap, mapping India’s bins: This project aims at mapping all dustbins and waste management centres in the country. The team needs to build a smart application to crowdsource the data and mark them on to an Open Street Map. The application needs to be smart in a way so that spammers can be avoided from entering fake data into the system. Also, meaningful analytics needs to be drawn from the collected open data to help take action & decision making for civic/government bodies.
Understanding and implementing digital badge programs for non-profits by Sertify: This project aims at building a system for non-profits to track the work of their volunteers and motivate them to keep working towards the cause and in the meantime also help build their personal profiles. The project should also help non-profit organisations in selecting the right volunteers for the right tasks/projects based on previous experiences and skill set along with the upskilling of the volunteers.
