Are you a musician, developer, artist, producer, designer, researcher or neither of them, but heavily motivated in the intersection of music and technology. Then this is for you! In this edition of the music tech meetup, the following speakers will be delivering talks about their personal experience in building Machine Learning based art and music generation systems in industrial/academic and artistic spaces. The speakers will also demonstrate some examples of the recent developments in the field AI-based art/music generation. It is an exciting time for new media artists with tools like machine learning and programming, seamlessly available for the creative minds of today. Just like the intelligent brushes of photoshop augmented the abilities of a traditional painter, music has a whole world of new possibilities.

About Speakers
Harshit Agarwal - http://harshitagrawal.com
Harshit is a new media artist and human computer interaction (HCI) researcher. Through his artwork, he creates experiences for people to explore and express with seemingly distant technologies like artificial intelligence/ machine learning, drones, digital fabrication, sensors, augmented reality and in the process invite people to reflect upon and re-evaluate their relationship with technology. Often, these artworks are tools to study how technology can blend with and enhance human creative expression. A lot of the works that he did focuses on the interplay between human and machine imaginations and intentions, spanning across virtual and physical embodiments.
Harshit is a graduate of the Fluid Interfaces group at MIT Media Lab and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati). He'd carried out art residencies at various places to develop my practice in diverse cultural contexts, including at the Art Center Nabi (Seoul), Museum of Tomorrow (Rio de Janeiro), Kakehi-Lab (Tokyo/ Yokohama). His wokrs have been exhibited at premier art festivals and museums around the world, like the Ars Electronica Festival, Tate Modern, Asia Culture Center (at Otherly Spaces/Knowledge exhibition curated by Kazunao Abe-san), QUT Art Museum (Why the Future Still Needs Us exhibition), Museum of Tomorrow, Alt-Ai (at the School For Poetic Computation, NYC), Art Center Nabi, Laval Virtual, BeFantastic Festival (Bangalore, India), ISEA. His works also have been extensively covered in international media. Along with this, he had also published several research papers on creation tools at human computer interaction conferences, including Siggraph, UIST, UbiComp, TEI, IUI, IDC.

Srikanth is a Machine Learning Researcher at Jukedeck where he contributes to the design and development of an ingenious AI music composer which employs a range of computational techniques to automatically generate music of different moods and styles. He was awarded a doctorate degree (PhD) in Computer Science in July 2016 by City, University of London under the supervision of Artur Garcez and Tillman Weyde. His research involved the development of novel Neural Network based Machine Learning models, as well as the use of existing ones to learn temporal patterns in musical scores and also to classify non-musical data. He received a master's degree (MSc) from the Music Technology Group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and holds a bachelor's degree (B.Tech.) in Computer Science and Engineering from the International Institute of Information Technology - Hyderabad.
Srikanth has previously worked at Siemens Corporate Technology - India as a Research Engineer (2007-10), on human action recognition in video and event detection in environmental audio among other video and audio analysis topics. He was a Research Assistant (2011-2012) at the Technologies for Acoustics and Audio Processing (TAAP) lab at Simon Fraser University where he worked on digital waveguide synthesis techniques for the tenor saxophone. He also did a brief internship at PMC Technologies (2011) during which he assisted with work on regression methods for failure prediction in manufacturing units in the semi-conductor industry.
He enjoys playing the guitar and has been playing mostly rock and heavy metal music for several years now as a hobby. He also holds a Grade 6 certification in Electric Guitar awarded by Rock School.

Manaswi Mishra is a music technology researcher currently exploring Music Information Retrieval techniques for augmented learning of musical instrument (IITB). As a graduate student at the Music Technology Group, Barcelona, he researches data driven methods for generating new timbres/textures of sounds. He has spent a year at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics, Stanford, and also worked as a researcher at Shazam (CA) and AdoriLabs (Bangalore). With an undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics, at IITM, his interests spread from physical modeling of sounds, numerical synthesis to human computer interaction, signal processing and computational creativity. Manaswi is also an active musician with various audio visual projects blending deep learning, creative coding and the arts.
Albin Correya - [website]
Based in Barcelona, Spain, Albin is an interdisciplinary researcher who works within the intersection of music and technology. His personal research interests are aligned on applying knowledge from Audio Signal Processing, Music Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Human Computer Interaction studies into audio and music production environments.
Albin is currently working as a research engineer at Music Technology Group, Barcelona where he investigate and develop algorithms for the automatic identification of cover song versions in collaboration with the german music start-up Flits. He has previously worked at the french music streaming giant Deezer at their Paris HQ. He holds a M.Sc degree in Sound & Music Computing from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona and Bachelor's degree in Compute Science from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. His works has been also featured in various international music tech conferences and hackathons such as Sonar+D 2017, Barcelona, Ableton Loop - 2017, Berlin, HAMR@ISMIR 2018, Paris, BnF Hackday, Paris, Music Hackathon Bulgaria, Sofia etc. He is also an active music producer and multi-instrumentalist. His compositions were featured in award winning documentaries and movies (IMDB). He is a great fan of open science and actively contribute to various open community initiatives around the world.

1. How will the communication occur during the preliminary round?
All communication will occur via emails. The problem statement will be shared with respective teams to solve, with a 48 hours timeline, and due date mentioned. The results will be shared post evaluation.
2. How will I receive a communication of selection of the final round?
Post the evaluation of preliminary solutions, the selected teams will be invited to the final event, via an email communication. (The teams should acknowledge this communication)
3. How do the teams identify themselves at the final registration Kiosk?
The teams are required to present the following:
Copy of invitation to the final event
Government-issued Photo ID cards. (All members)
Proof of Qualification (Degree certificate/ Work ID)
4. Can the participants request to lend/avail any hardware/Software from the event coordination team?
No, this is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) event. The participants should take onus for all hardware/ software requirements. Hackathon organizers will provide all participants with Free Wi-Fi connections and options to charge their devices.
5. Will the travel expenses of the participants be reimbursed?
No, the participants will be required to take care of their travel (and accommodation, if any) expenses on their own.

Terms & Conditions of the Hackathon
GCC Services India Private Limited, a company whose registered office is at Peridot Block, 11th, 12th & 13th Floor, Bagmane World Technology Centre – SEZ, K.R. Puram, Marathahalli Ring Road, Bangalore – 560048, Karnataka (the “Organiser”) is organising a hackathon which involves individuals and/or small teams of individuals building creative and innovative hacks in supply chain and procurement operations (“Hackathon”). Below are the terms and conditions for participating in the Hackathon (“Terms and Conditions”). By participating in the Hackathon, the participants agree to the Terms and Conditions.
1. For the Hackathon, the participants will be presented with a specific Application Programming Interface (“API”) and challenged to develop a creative idea based around the Organisers business (the “Challenge”) by reference to the Judging Criteria (defined below). At the time of registration, the participants will be required to accept the Organizers’s privacy policy (insert privacy policy link) and these Terms and Conditions.
2. The participation in the Hackathon is free of charge.
3. The Hackathon begins at 1800 hours on Friday, 12 October 2018 and ends at 2000 Hours on Saturday, 13 October 2018. All timing mentioned in this Terms and Conditions are Indian Standard Time. All participants are required to report at the Venue at 1500 hours.
4. The venue for the Hackathon is AB In-Bev Growth Analytics Center, 8, Vittal Mallya Road, Shanthala Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560001 (“Venue”). All participants must be physically present at the Venue to participate in the Hackathon. Participants may remain at the Venue for the duration of the Challenge and the Organizer will make space available for participants to rest when not working on the Challenge.
5. Participants are responsible for making their own food, travel, boarding and accommodation arrangements and for covering all associated costs and expenses in connection with their participation in the Hackathon. During the Hackathon, food and beverages will be provided at the Venue free of any additional cost. Participants with specific dietary requirements or allergies should exercise caution and the Organizers shall not be responsible for any incident caused due to consumption of such food by the Participants.
6. Each Participant must bring or obtain whatever hardware and/or software they believe they would need to participate in the Hackathon (for example, laptops and mobile phones), including any accessories. The Organizer will not be providing any hardware or software or any other material that may be required for participation in the Hackathon. However, the Organiser will provide electrical outlets for the purposes of charging laptops and mobile phones. Further, the organizers will provide all participants with Wi-Fi connections free of charge. Each participant must provide his or her own computer or other devices for the design and development of the project.
7. The Hackathon is open to all persons aged 18 years or over as on 12 October 2018, including employees of the Organizer. However, it is not open to anyone professionally associated with the administration of this Hackathon or their immediate families, or their agents. Persons of Indian nationals only can participate in the Hackathon. At the time of registration, all participants including all members of the team should produce their identification proof issued by any government authority (Both online and physical copy accepted).
8. Persons can participate in the Hackathon singly or in a team. The team size can be of maximum 4 persons.
9. There is no qualification requirement for participating in the Hackathon. The Hackathon is open to those who are passionate in technology and innovation, for example, data engineers, scientists, analysts, specialists, executives and / or any graduate.
10. Registration for the Hackathon is open from 19th September 2018 to 29th September 2018. Individuals may register by accessing the registration page and following the process mentioned therein. Registrations are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis, and the Organizer has the right to end, cancel or suspend the registration or limit the number of registrants at any time, at its sole and absolute its discretion. A maximum of 100 participants will be admitted to the Venue to carry out the Hackathon. In circumstances where the Hackathon receives more registrations than there are spaces available to carry out the Hackathon, the registration will not be accepted and will be on a first come first served basis.
11. Individuals and teams with successful registration and acceptance will receive a confirmation of their registration to the Hackathon on the e-mail address provided at the time of registration. The individuals and the teams must bring a copy of the confirmation e-mail at the Venue for entering into the Hackathon.
12. Other Rules of Participation in the Hackathon:
a. Registering for the Hackathon is free of charge and is open to whoever is selected for the next round, who will then be able to form teams at the Hackathon, either on their own or with the help of the Organizers.
b. Teams and individuals wishing to sign up for the Hackathon must complete the online registration form indicating the details required therein including personal details of the individual or of each team member. Each individual participant or team member must accept the Hackathon regulations and grant consent for the handling of their personal information and for the use by the Organizers.
c. Individuals will need to provide certain personal information and sensitive personal data and information at the time for registering for the Hackathon. Individuals agree that their personal information and sensitive personal data and information will be used for the purposes of administering the Hackathon, in connection with any advertising related to the Hackathon or for the purposes of other research and analysis. Please note that in processing the information in this way the Organiser may disclose such information to other companies in its group or to third parties employed and / or contracted by the Organiser.
d. The members of each team must ensure that the information provided by them for participation in the Hackathon are true and accurate and must unconditionally accept any and all decisions made by the Organizers with regard to the Hackathon. If any information provided during online registration is found to be incomplete and/or inaccurate, even if such information relates to one member of the team, the entire team concerned will be excluded from the Hackathon and their registration will be deemed cancelled.
e. Each team and / or individual participants will be given a name from the Organizer.
f. The individuals registered as a team shall not be permitted to change the team composition or the team in any manner. In the event of any change, whatsoever, the entire team registration for the Hackathon shall be deemed cancelled.
g. The members of each team and / or individuals undertake not to present projects that have previously been submitted to other initiatives or projects.
h. Each participant undertakes, for the entire duration of the Hackathon, to make use of the facilities in which the Hackathon is to be held and any materials and equipment provided by Organizer with the utmost care and diligence and to comply fully with the rules of conduct and safety established by the Organizer.
i. Each participant hereby acknowledges that participation in the Hackathon is free of any charge and that participation does not entail any right to compensation of any kind or to reimbursement of any expenses incurred by any participant in attending the Hackathon or participating in the Hackathon.
j. The topic for the Hackathon shall be related to procurement and supply chain. The preliminary round shall contain one problem statement and final round shall contain four to five problem statement. The Organizers reserve the right to alter the number of problem statement at their sole and absolute discretion.
k. All teams and individual participants will have access to a group of mentors, selected by the Organizers, who will observe and assist the teams and individual participants in defining the project and will support them throughout the 24 hours of the Hackathon as they work to produce the prototype or mock-up.
l. At the end of the 24-hour phase, each team and / or individual participant must present the output of their efforts (“Solutions”) in accordance with the instructions provided by the Organizer. At the end of the 24 hour period, top teams will be presenting their Solutions to the panel of Judges.
m. The Solutions executed by the teams and / or individual participates for the Hackathon will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges, all of whom will be employees of the Organizers. The final decisions of the judges are intended to be based on the parameters including the following: Concept, Solution Design, Development, and Presentation. The panel will assign a score to each parameter, which will then determine the ranking of each participating team (“Judging Criteria”).
n. The Organizer will own all the Solutions and all intellectual property related to it and created by the participants. o. The participants hereby provides a worldwide,, perpetual, royalty-free license, to the Organizer, to use, modify, improve, interpret, compile, recompile and further assign any pre-existing intellectual property owned by them which has been used in developing the Solution.
p. The participants hereby agrees to do all such things and sign and execute all documents, if required, to assign the intellectual property associated with the Solutions.
q. The prize for the Hackathon is: 1st Prize: I-Pad for each member of the team; 2nd Prize: Garmin Smart Watch for each member of the team; 3rd Prize: Organizer merchandise. Further, all participants will be given a welcome kit with goodies.
r. The winners will have the option for walk-in direct interview for employment with the Organizer, at the sole discretion of the Organizer. However, the Organizer does not guarantee any employment with the Organizer and the same will be wholly dependent upon the interview, openings and the recruitment process of the Organizer.
13. The winners will be required to leave a postal address at the conclusion of the Hackathon to which the prizes can be delivered. All prizes will be dispatched by courier or recorded delivery.
14. The Organizer reserves the right to verify all Solutions and may refuse to award a prize or withdraw prize entitlement where there is or the Organizer has reason to believe there is or has been, a breach of these Terms and Conditions or the spirit of the Hackathon has been compromised.
15. By entering, the participant will be deemed to have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and be bound by them and the requirements in any other promotional material. All entry instructions form part of these Terms and Conditions.
16. No responsibility will be accepted for any late entry or any entry that does not comply with these Terms and Conditions.
17. No cash or other alternative prizes are available, in whole or in part, except that in the event of circumstances outside of its reasonable control, the Organizer reserves the right to substitute the prizes or any elements thereof with alternatives of equal or greater value.
18. All winners hereby consent to participate in any reasonable publicity (i.e. announcing the winners on the Organiser’s social media channels and/or the Organiser’s website or Organiser’s third party’s website) accompanying and resulting from the Hackathon.
19. The Organizer does not accept responsibility for any entries and registrations which are lost, delayed, incomplete or otherwise not received or cannot be entered for technical or any other reason. Proof of delivery of the registration is not proof of receipt. Incomplete or illegible entries or entries not in accordance with the entry instructions and these Terms and Conditions are invalid.
20. The Organizer reserves the right to alter, amend or terminate the Hackathon without prior notice, provided that the Organizer shall not exercise this right unreasonably.
21. The Organizer reserves the right to exclude any entries which they believe to be fraudulent or based on misconduct.
22. The Organizer and their agents accept no responsibility for difficulties experienced in submitting an entry to this Hackathon.
23. The Organizer reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to verify the winners, including but not limited to, proof of identity and/or age, as required, and to withdraw prize entitlement where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these Terms and Conditions or any instructions forming part of this Hackathon’s entry requirements or otherwise where a participant has gained an unfair advantage in participating in the Hackathon or has won using fraudulent means. For the avoidance of doubt this shall include submitting a Solution that is not original or based solely or mainly upon a product that is already publically available.
24. The Organizer (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability, for any injury sustained, loss, or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Hackathon, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; or any tax liability incurred by any participant. The Organizer will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury sustained, as a result of, or in connection with this Hackathon (in contract, negligence or otherwise) where: (a) there is no breach of a legal duty of care owed to the participant; (b) the loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of any such breach; or (c) any loss or damage or increase in loss or damage results from a breach by the participant of these terms and conditions or to the extent that the participant has failed to mitigate such loss or damage; and (d) any loss or damage or increase in loss or damage results from business losses, and/or losses to non-consumers and any other third party.
25. The Organizer reserves the right to amend, alter or withdraw the Hackathon as necessary due to wholly exceptional circumstances outside its reasonable control where circumstances make this unavoidable but will use all reasonable endeavours to minimize the effect on participants to avoid undue disappointment.
26. The Organizer will not be held liable to any participant for any fraud committed by any third party or in an event beyond its control.
27. The Organizer’s decision will be final in all circumstances.
28. Individuals should contact procurement.hackathon@ab-inbev.com if they do not want the Organizer to hold personal data for future marketing purposes.
29. Any question concerning the legal interpretation of the rules will be based on Indian law and the Courts of Bangalore, India will have exclusive jurisdiction.
