The Microsoft Student Partner Gaming Hackathon has taken place in several German universities to give students the opportunity to make their game ideas become reality. Throughout this weekend students will be making small games together with small teams which will then be published in order to get a chance to win amazing prices such as Raspberry Pi and Xbox One. Pizza Brainstormnight wedstrijd: Een loodzware doch enorm plezante nacht geïnspireerd op de befaamde hackathons, ondersteund door pizza en energy drinks. In groepjes van 5 zullen jullie heel de nacht (lees van 20u tot 8:00u 's ochtends!) een businesscase oplossen voor Pizzahut. Een unieke manier om inzicht te verwerven in probleem oplossend denken, in teamverband te werken en samen te brainstormen. De Hackathon start om 10:00. We zouden het erg op prijs stellen als je om 09:30 aanwezig bent om niets te missen van het programma en de openingspresentaties van de verschillende partners van het evenement. Wat moet ik meenemen? Een hackathon is geen hackathon zonder materiaal om mee te hacken. Neem dus een laptop mee (met oplader) en andere technologie die jij denkt nodig te hebben om deze dag met jouw team vooruit te kunnen! Een kussen, slaapmatje en een slaapzak of fleece dekentje doet wonderen voor als je even een dutje moet doen 's nachts, je bent namelijk 24 uur aan een stuk bezig met het bouwen van oplossingen en zolang achter je computer zitten kan nog weleens lastig zijn zonder in slaap te vallen. Daarnaast zijn er tal van hotels te vinden waar je snachts kunt vertoeven, maar wees op tijd terug! De teampitches beginnen namelijk alweer om 10:00 's ochtends en hotelbedjes slapen vaak veel te lekker. Heb je een id nodig of is er een leeftijdsgrens? Nee, iedereen boven de 10 jaar is welkom om mee te doen aan de hack. Wel is op jonge leeftijd toestemming nodig van een ouder, het wordt namelijk een zeer lange dag en er zijn veel mensen aanwezig waar de organisatie niet de hele tijd op kan letten. Ook zijn wij als organisatie niet verantwoordelijk voor enige letsels, diefstallen of schade aan personen of apparatuur. Vermeld dus wanneer je onder de 16 bent een telefoonnummer van een van de ouders/verzorgers op je ticket die je afgeeft aan een van de organisatoren bij binnenkomst. Wat zijn de vervoers-/parkeermogelijkheden voor het evenement? Er is genoeg parkeergelegenheid om het terrein aanwezig (wel in de meeste gevallen betaald). Eveneens is het op 5 minuten loopafstaand van Utrecht Centraal station, we raden dus aan om met het openbaar vervoer te komen. Wat mag ik wel/niet meebrengen naar het evenement? We willen geen wapens of gevaarlijke objecten aanwezig op ons evenement. Zien we dit wel kun je per direct de hackathon verlaten (hier gaan wij natuurlijk niet vanuit). Heb je hardware, een extra beeldscherm of gadgets bij die je graag gebruikt of uitleent aan andere deelnemers om mee te hacken neem deze dan zeker mee! Omdat het in een zeer oude (slecht geïsoleerde) Prodentfabriek is, in een hal van zeker 5 meter hoog kan het in de nacht koud worden. Een fleece dekentje doet dan wonderen voor de echte diehards die de 24 uur wakker kunnen blijven. Daarnaast zijn er tal van hotels te vinden waar je snachts kunt vertoeven, maar wees op tijd terug! -------------------------  What is this event?  This will be a one afternoon Data Science hackathon where participants have the opportunity to work on unique healthcare datasets and to have real impact in finding ways to improve health care. This event is open to anyone interested in Data Science and machine learning, text mining, visualisation, data intensive programming and general hacking. UMC Utrecht will make available a unique set of patient data, combined with data from external sources (think of CBS Data (Statistics Netherlands), KNMI (weather data), Geo Health (environmental data), City of Utrecht) For who is this?  Everybody experienced in Data Science (machine learning, datamining, textmining), visualisation and/or data engineering is welcome to join. Note that you are expected to be able to load up the data yourself during the event. Due to the uniqueness of the datasets made available by the UMC Utrecht, only a limited amount of seats is available, so be quick!  You will especially enjoy the afternoon if:  You like machine learning, to think about and apply models to data;  You like to program to reach your goal and still be able to collaborate in a team;  You like to use visualisation to communicate the results.  Background  One year ago, the Dutch 'Doorbraakproject Big Data' (breakthrough project) came in contact with the psychiatry unit of the Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht (UMC Utrecht). After some joint sessions, thanks to the enthusiasm of the participants, a collaborative effort with GoDataDriven started. This has resulted in a first successful 'Data Science Open Kitchen', in May 2015. This provided interesting insights that were beneficial to the Psychiatry department. At the moment there is more data available and it’s already pre-analysed, giving opportunities for an even more challenging event. That’s why we invite participants for a Hackathon on a greater scale to help us to make an impact on the way Data Science can help to improve health care.   Agenda  After a brief opening by Ms. F. Scheepers (psychiatrist, head of UMC Utrecht psychiatry unit and initiator of this project)  you'll quickly get to work. Deze herfstvakantie is het weer tijd voor de tweede editie van Hack de Herfst! Tijdens Hack de Herfst! kunnen kinderen van 9-12 jaar hun creativiteit de vrije loop laten. Iedereen kan op zijn of haar eigen niveau meedoen. Er zijn verschillende game ontwerp workshops zoals Scratch, Minecraft of Makey Makey. Verder zijn er weer Mini-hack-a-thons en introduceren we een Virtual Reality-workshop! Via Eventbrite is het mogelijk te reserveren voor een specifieke workshop.
