In spirit of this year's theme ‘New Power’ -- developers, designers and creatives are invited to unite! This year TEDxAmsterdam is working on a TEDx Open Source project for the new website and as a kick off is hosting their first hackathon to create awesome things for TEDxAmsterdam! That doesn't mean you'll be building a website! No...you're invited to show off your awesome building skills. The journey should include lots of fun! The final program and location are still being worked on, but you'll enjoy a fun day, with cool people and lots of awesome stuff to be made! Who knows, if your hack is that awesome, maybe you’ll see it back on TEDxAmsterdam!

CococaheadsNL is organising the first Dutch NSCoderNight with many to follow. This is a day for having fun with other Cocoaheads, food, drinks and coding.  This is not a corporate hackathon, there are no prices to be won and the event is for developers only. The cost of ticket will cover your diner and some of the basic costs. Drinks will be on your own account. This is a non-profit who are not making any proceeds on this, their year long community sponsors allow them to cover most of the expenses of this event.

This is a three-day hackathon to hack into our brains with ideas on health, care and quality of life. Attendees will be working with different EEG-type techniques to measure, visualize and interpret their own brain activity. Learn what you can do with brainwaves, measure happiness, health, love, and influence the brain to improve our quality of life. There will also be keynotes and discussions with experts alongside the actual hackathon. The event will end with public pitches and reflection of the teams.

Your challenge--create a product that indicates the real energy efficiency of a building, combining data from the TOON® smart thermostat, open data and possibly data from extra sensors or devices.

Come on...get creative! The creative coding community in Amsterdam is invited to Hack the Room. It's open to every coder--no matter your level of experience! Event cosponsors are Creative Coding Amsterdam and binaryfutures, a research group with a strong view on spatial design. Hacker participants will use the binaryfutures' prototyping kit for connecting objects and spaces to a local network via websockets. During the hackathon you'll be invited to create some awesome stuff in the space, using the binaryfutures HTML5-based platform

This year the program Bioinformatics is celebrating its 12 and a half years and Exon studies for 5 years. For this celebration, they are organizing a number of activities for you including a Hackathon. At the end of the day, Alumni will be asked to give a short presentation about what they are doing at the moment. There will also be a BBQ!

As a follow-up to the DataMission & UN World Food Programme Hackathon in May 14, all winners and participants are invited to the "What's next event". This is your chance to further develop the solutions of that day and assist the UN World Food Programme! You have four options to collaborate: - Work with the winners on their solutions - Work on creating open source visualizations on the WFP website (D3, Highcharts, Bootstrap, Python expertise desired) - Work on Improving the data quality.

If you are eager to make and invent stuff and love the idea of LAN-parties to come up with bright solutions for global education problems then this event is for you! Everything that's needed to have an amazing time is covered: food, drinks, tents to sleep in and educational speakers like Jason Silva, Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Neelie Kroes!

This is a three-day hackathon inviting all developers, designers, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals and patients to travel to multiple cities in the Netherlands and Hack for Health. This event is an initiative of four Dutch Academic Medical Centers: LUMC, Maastricht UMC+, UMC Groningen and Radboudumc. Teams will work together in Groningen, Leiden, Maastricht and Nijmegen on the future of health. At the end of the weekend the teams will present their projects to a panel of judges and a winner will be selected by a multi disciplinary and independent jury. The winners of Dutch Hacking Health will also have the possibility to get stagetime on one of the events during the Start Up Fest Europe week like Our Future Health or Campus Party.

DataMission and the World Food Programme (WFP) are partnering up for a hackathon that will help in the fight against hunger. This event invites all data scientist, developers, non-profit organisations, experts in the hunger issues, marketers, and anyone who is willing to join their skills for a good cause! The topics covered at the hackathon include: Data analysis for developing more detailed and higher quality estimates on food security, Data-driven products to build a software, webpage or mobile application to encourage more survey participation, and Data visualization to enable decision making.
