CALLING ALL STUDENTS, STARTUPS AND ENTREPRENEURS
We hear you! By popular demand we are repeating the successful hackathon in Media City Bergen Media Lab, this time in a collaboration with our sister cluster, NCE Seafood innovation.
We are welcoming developers, designers, entrepreneurs and creative people who are studying or working within media, aquaculture, information sciences, tech, strategy or innovation, to a two day hackathon in Media City Bergen Media Lab, May 7-8. Technical skills is not a requirement!
As a precursor to the hackathon, you will also have the opportunity to attend an introductory workshop on April 24. Remember to sign up when registering tickets for the hackathon. More info about the workshop at the bottom of this page.
This time we are creating solutions for the aquaculture industry. We are aiming for new solutions, concepts and ideas to solve important challenges for some of the largest aquaculture companies in the world, as well as leading marine research institutions and the Norwegian government, where the media cluster core competence; VizTech, MediaTech and/or digital communications technology, can be a part of the solution.
You can either sign up a team, or we will put teams together, to develop an idea from scratch, and then present it to a panel of judges who will name the winner teams.
In the hackathon, attendees will work on carefully crafted problem statements from some of the largest aquaculture companies in the world, leading marine research institutions and the Norwegian government. Our partners in IBM, Hatch, and Deloitte will make sure that the attendees have the tools and guidance they need to deliver the solutions that might become the future of aquaculture.
You can build a prototype, or you can present a concept, a great solution to a problem, or innovative visualizations. For those who want to prototype, visualize, test or demo technical solutions, or use available data or API’s, IBM Watson will be available for all teams, together with expert support in the help desk.
The solutions will be presented at the end of the second day, where an expert jury will judge the winners based on well-defined criterion given out to the attendees along with the problem statement specifications and data. Winners will receive both a cash prize as well as opportunities such as access to an office at BTO for a period and an invitation to join an aquaculture accelerator. All attendees will receive stash, food, photos and media coverage.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, maybe even meet a co-founder to kick start your own idea!
