Do you believe that in today's' world, there is a technology solution that could help reduce that waste in Austria and maybe distribute the food to where it's needed? Come and participate in the Food Waste Hackathon Vienna. This event is an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals to reduce food waste in Austria.

Interested in environmental issue? Come and participate in the first Copernicus open data hackathon in Austria! You'll have access to data sets collected by Copernicus, the European system for monitoring the Earth. Copernicus data are related to the following fields: »Atmosphere Monitoring »Marine Environment Monitoring »Land Monitoring »Climate Change »Emergency Management »Security Your challenge will be to create a valuable application that leverages Copernicus data! For example: »Do you have a ground-breaking idea that addresses a current environmental or societal problem? »How would you use Sentinel data to create new information-rich products? »Which application of Copernicus data could you develop that could be commercially viable? »How to combine and exploit Open Data together with Earth Observation data to generate additional benefit?

Interested in beacon technology and indoor navigation? Particpate in a 33 hour hack and work on challenges with smart beacons dev kits provided by kontakt.io. Use ibeacons to unlock indoor location intelligence. Support travelers to find the shortest routes. Improve queue management. Keep track of traffic flows and locate incidents quickly. Target mobile ads and notifications. Get insights into customer behavior and feed them back into CRM. The possibilities are endless.

The most creative geoscience event of the year. Fun for everyone — not just programmers. Come to Vienna the weekend before EAGE for the most creative 48 hours of your career so far. What is a hackathon? It's a fun, 2-day event full of geophysics and tech. Most people participate in teams of up to 4 people, but you can take part on your own too. There's plenty of time on the first morning to find projects to work on, or maybe you already have something in mind. At the end of the second day, we show each other what we've been working on with a short demo. There are some fun prizes for especially interesting projects. You don't have to be a programmer to join the fun. This hackathon invited you to develop technological solutions for the care of refugees and integration. Get involved at the interface of technology and business for social engagement and humanitarian aid. Challenge yourself with technology for asylum seekers to develop a use-creating application together with Microsoft, the Red Cross, the City of Vienna, the Foreign Ministry, the mobility.builders developer community, WhatAVenture, Tieto, Netidee, pot travel and the developers of the Welcome app from Germany! This event is inviting web and mobile developers, designers and project managers who will be supported by mentors and asylum seekers to come together to brainstorm, develop, prototype and validate. You will be challenged to create either a mobile App, website and/or other technical services to solve problems for communicating with Austrians, overcoming language barriers, the orientation, both spatially and in the official processes, to the exchange of cultural aspects. Best projects will get the chance to win a User Experience Workshop of Tieto, a Device of Microsoft, Startup Packages of WhatAVenture, and Slot for the project presentation at the next Mobile Developer after-work event of mobility.builders.
