Have you ever wanted to get involved in a data hackathon…  First timer? Don’t know how to get involved? Not sure where your skills fit in?   The Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC), supported by Code the City, will be hosting a hackathon event using real data from oil and gas operators and service providers, with specific challenges to explore.   The hackathon event is an opportunity for data scientists, coders, developers, user experience professionals and those with data visualisation skills to work on these challenges with likeminded individuals in niche teams that will be formed on the day.   As an attendee you will have several unique opportunities, including: Exploring real data and address real industry challenges Applying your data science and other skills to a big problem Gaining insight into what others are thinking and offer your insight too Learning new ways of exploring the problem space with others in a facilitated process. Demonstrating specialist skills to the major data providers and industry partners who will be in attendance   The event will use real production data and through a process of initial exploratory data analysis, ideation and rapid prototyping, participants will develop proof of concept applications and solutions which may be further developed through to production.   This one-day event is being hosted by the OGTC at 20 Queens Road, Aberdeen and is limited to 20 participants.   This is a fantastic opportunity for participants to further develop coding skills and gain understanding of real industry challenges.         The Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) DataFest is an opportunity for Industry leaders, practioners, data scientists, data analysts and academics to come together and explore the current challenges in making data much more available to the industry, to solve challenges, and to provide the data sets for research and enabling the creation of a vibrant ecosystem supporting a culture of innovation. Have you ever wanted to get involved in a data hackathon but were afraid to try? On the second day of our data fringe event we are providing an opportunity for individuals who would like to learn more about how to get involved in data hacks. We will be providing a Hackathon master class that will take you through the process in an interactive and entertaining way using real data from the oil and gas sector, to get people started on what it takes to get involved in data hacks. The day will include using tools to analysis the data using various techniques and algorithms. This event is for all those interested in knowing how to get started hacking data to solve industry challenges. All individuals signing up will need to provide their own laptop for use during the master class . This is day two of a two day event being hosted by the OGTC with DataFest. On the first day we will look at the challenge around creating the right environment to give individuals, companies and the industry the confidence to share data.
