The One Hour Hackathon
17 Nov - 06:30 PM
London, United Kingdom
Want to master your hackathon skills but don't have a weekend to give up? Not sure what a hackathon is? Curious about how fun they are?
The best kept secret is that you don't need to be a developer or "techie" to win a hackathon. A winning team contains a mix of people with different skills and ideas, all coming together to create a solution to a problem and explain what they've done to others.
So, if you're a designer, a marketeer or even a footballer, come and join us for what must be the shortest hackathon ever. Practice your skills and learn what it takes to win.
If you're a ready made team or you're an individual just looking to build something fun. Come along and get involved. There'll be time to meet people and form teams and discuss ideas before the build time begins. Once the build has ended, teams will get a few short minutes to present their ideas before a winner is chosen.
NOTE: This is a free event, but you need to be registered in-advance to attend.
Thanks go to PA Consulting for providing the venue.

Validate Your Startup Idea with Minimal Time and Money
16 Nov - 02:00 PM
London, United Kingdom
This workshop is designed for startup founders at the early or idea stage. Do you have a startup idea but aren’t sure how to take it forward without capital, technical skills, or expensive equipment ? Are you curious about Lean Startup and how it can help you and your startup succeed? If so, this is the workshop for you.
This workshop will lead you through the initial business idea iteration process, helping you to test the market. Lean startup techniques do not require any coding, and you won’t waste time and money creating a website, product, or service that no one wants to use or pay for. After the exercise, you will have the clarity and confidence to take your idea forward.
Outline of the workshop:
A brief introduction to Lean Startup
How to know if your target customers will love your idea
Tips for customer interviews
MVP (Minimum Viable Product) techniques to test the market
Instructor: Josh Liu
Josh is an serial entrepreneur with 8 years of startup experience. He has done startups in enterprise software, hardware, the twosided marketplace and the consumer Internet. As a keen Lean Startup practitioner, he coorganises Lean Startup Circle London, the largest Lean Startup community in Europe. He conducts Lean workshops at the Hackathon event and Google Campus, and also runs Lean Startup Machine, a 2day Lean Startup bootcamp.
He is now a partner at Source Institute, an entrepreneurship education and support organisation. He is also a managing partner at HardwarePro, a early stage hardware advisory and investment firm.

London, United Kingdom
What is UnituHack?
UnituHack is the first student & staff hackathon, bringing them together to form a team for one day to co-create technological innovations and solutions for specific challenges found in universities.
This is an opportunity for all types of university staff and students who may have an idea they would like to create and improve their own academic experience. Attendees do not need to come up with their own ideas, but instead they can join a team once they get to the event.
NOTE: After you attend the event, we will reimburse your ticket on Eventbrite!
What is a Hackathon?
A hackathon is an event where people with ideas come together for the purpose of solving a problem that exists, or creating a product that is needed in the real world.
Why should I go?
Some of the benefits delegates have experienced at our previous event are:
Creating solutions to your educational challenges
Networking with other staff and students in different universities
Developing and learning new professional skills
Having free food served to them all day (breakfast, pizza, sandwiches and snacks)
Chance to win prizes worth over £1,000
Getting some great hackathon swag
Having fun and be part of the hackathon community
What are others saying about UnituHack?
"Thank you to you and the team for hosting such a brilliant event. I am particularly interested in student-staff partnerships, and it was a fantastic way to see some front-line work. It is interesting to see the areas that are consistently identified by students as being ‘problematic’- from staying abreast of information to peer support and communication with lecturers (not to mention food!). The atmosphere was incredibly positive and I can only imagine how much work went on to pull together this event."
Rebecca Rochon, Senior Lecturer in Education @ Buckinghamshire New University
