This is a free, hands-on workshop to enable participants to create a database driven web application with Flask (a microframework for Python) and SQLAlchemy (a Python SQL toolkit) using a Computational Thinking process.  On completion, participants will be able to teach their students how to create a simple web application using Python, Flask and SQLAlchemy as part of KS3-KS5 curriculum. The workshop will cover databases, networks, web applications and GUI aspects of the KS3-KS5 CS curriculum. You will learn how to use Flask and SQLAlchemy libraries, set up Python environment. display and get data with HTML forms, work with CRUD database actions, and putting all of these together (Web app + HTML + database) to create a simple database driven web application. The workshop is open to secondary school Computer Science teachers of with a basic to intermediary level of Python programming skills. No prior experience with SQLAlchemy and Flask is required. Attendees should bring their own laptops. All attendees will receive free individual access to Codio and course materials for 12 months. The workshop duration is 3 hours including a 30 min networking session with free snacks and refreshments.

Anvil Hack II is a student run hackathon focused on the creative applications of technology taking place at the Goldsmiths University of London. Any enrolled undergraduate or postgraduate student, or graduate less than a year out of university can attend this event. Use your skills to make something wonderful, arty, musical, or just plain old awesome. You'll be provided with food, drinks, electricity and WiFi, so that you can get on with the real work - making cool things!

This hackathon will brin together three countries, three time zones and three tech hubs. Crowd2Map Tanzania was one of 7 projects selected in the Open Seventeen challenge, which rallies the public to use open data as a means of achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This event is part of the project, organizing a triple mapping day in Dar+London+Vilnius. The Memory Palace Hackathon's main aim is for you to develop a software that will allow individuals to build memory palaces in virtual reality or a 3D modeled environment on a 2D screen. Human memory is significantly better adapted to learning spaces and images than it is to learning textual and numerical information. For millennia, memory techniques have been developed and leveraged in oral cultures to store huge amounts of information in human memory through association with space and image. While the core principles of memory palaces can be learned quickly, their application to specific subjects and disciplines remains elusive. By creating a means of building memory palaces in virtual reality, the entire process can be transmitted and demonstrated faster, more effectively, and with digital – as well as human – memory storage. Users will be able to see their own and other people’s memory palaces, as well as be able to create their own memory palaces with built-in guidance and step-by-step instruction. This event will require developers familiar with Ruby programming language and preferably with Sketchup itself. The goal is to code the steps and functions that allow teachers to create instructional modules and students to add their own associations and build their own memory palaces.

This is a hackathon on communication in education for developers, parents and early years teachers with ideas for edtech products for children aged 4 to 8. Your challenges will be to develop a literacy app or platform to help children to articulate and express their ideas and experiences verbally, to other challenges involved in school readiness including physical well-being and motor development, social and emotional development, approaches to learning, and cognition and general knowledge, creating a platform for parents to get connected to other parents.

Makers Academy is bringing back the #mondohack hackathon. Over the past three hackathons, there's been integrations with Tesla, Amazon Echo, invoicing solutions, charitable savings and much more. Their banking API gives you realtime information about everything that happens in your account, delivered in JSON over either a crafted REST API or web hooks. If you don’t yet have a Mondo account, you will get to set up one on the day and then get the chance to build your dream app, in a team or individually.

Join this hackathon to make Cystic Fibrosis physiotherapy fun! A full weekend to Hack Attack for Lung Health by creating games that transform Cystic Fibrosis physio into a fun, engaging experience. This is a 6-week introduction to Coding where you will get the opportunity to gain hands on experience coding and get a good understanding of the Tech Ecosystem. All courses are taught by experts in the field and you will cover topics including; Introduction to User Experience, Introduction to HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Lab-work to design and code your project with support from mentors. There will be One to One mentorship with startup CEO, visits to cool startups, Monthly talks with Mentors and Advanced Coding Classes. Babies are welcome!
