You're invited to come to the AgriTech Hackathon in Newmarket and collaborate to create an innovative technology solution that tackles a designated problem facing the UK's agricultural industry. Potential challenges include: - Maximizing soil productivity, - Improving water use efficiency, - Reducing greenhouse gases, - Boosting biodiversity, - Etc. Come with your own multidisciplinary team of 4-6 individuals -- or join one at the event. Present your project to a jury. Public health officials, doctors, nurses, researchers, professors, college students, community leaders and young people in the UK. Are you enthusiastic about creating solutions to address major public health issues like the Covid-19 pandemic? Come and participate in the National Volunteer Week (NVW) hackathon. As part of a team of 4-6 individuals, you'll get to create a solution to your selection of one of three public health challenges in the area of emerging infectious diseases. Your team will present your project and prototype to a panel of judges who will select the winner based on the quality of the idea, your implementation, and its potential for widescale adoption.

University students, health professionals, entrepreneurs, and researchers in the UK! You're invited to participate in a Health Hackathon to address depression and anxiety experienced by young people. You'll be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of 5 individuals and be challenged to solve one of several issues faced by young people who suffer from depression and anxiety. Your team will research the given topic, develop your solution, and pitch your team's proposal to a panel of experts.

For too many children, the ordeal of sexual abuse doesn’t end when the abuse stops. The recording, viewing and sharing of countless photos and videos online mean victims suffer humiliation and misery every time someone clicks on an image of their abuse. We are calling all engineers, developers, cyber security experts and individuals with awesome skills from Cambridge and around the world to come together and work on innovative projects to help stop distribution of child sexual abuse imagery online. The Hackathon is a one-day event in at IWF in Cambridge and you are invited to join us to help find and create “tech for good” solutions to make a genuine difference to the victims of online child sexual abuse. FAQs What kind of skills do I need? We welcome anyone who can help technically and/or who has experience with the following: Write tools to help scrape websites or organise files (images + video) Experience of ML/AI and NLP Who can perform OSINT (OpenSource Intelligence)/SOCMINT (Social Media Intelligence) What should I bring? Something to work on - tablet, laptop etc. What will be provided? Internet access, a comfy place to hack, IWF tech support and encouragement!  Drinks and food will be provided throughout the day. Please state any dietary requirements on the booking form.  All IP developed will be donated to the IWF Hotline for the investigation and removal of child sexual abuse only. Spaces for the event are limited and RSVP does not guarantee participation, you will receive a confirmation email two weeks in advance.

Aviva Hackathon (CUDSS Aviva Data Science Challenge)

OPEN TO UEL STUDENTS and ALUMNI ONLY How do you make the creative industries more sustainable for London? London College of Fashion, University College London, Loughborough London University, Birkbeck, University of East London and London South Bank Universtiy are inviting a select number of students to help solve this challenge. Teams will compete to win part of the £3500 total prize fund. 1st Place = £2,000 2nd Place = £1,000 3rd Place = £500 (or £100 per student) This hackathon will offer students and recent alumni the opportunity to come together to learn, create, test, prototype and present their ideas to do something amazing and tackle some of the big environmental challenges facing. The best teams will walk away with a substantial cash prize. We're looking for creative people with a passion to learn and share their knowledge and skills. Teams will be formed at the start of the hack on 31st January 2020. They will need to get moving quickly with their ideas in order to submit by the Saturday morning deadline. Don't worry though there will be workshops, mentors and industry experts on site to help guide you to solve this challenge posed by the Mayor of London. This will be a fantastic networking opportunity to meet likeminded students from world leading universities. Please note that this is an expression of interest and those who apply for tickets will be notified if their application for the hack has been successful.
