No, this time we will stream the whole event, giving everybody the chance to participate online. Therefore you can be part of the Hackathon from all over the world. Local Hack Day is a 12 hour mini-hackathon that brings together the local hacker community to celebrate building awesome technology. Omnipresently, other students around the world will be hosting their own Local Hack Days, resulting in the largest single day of student hacking ever. Whether you're a seasoned hackathon veteran or have never been to a hackathon before, Local Hack Day is the best way to meet other techies and even get started on a cool project.If you want to learn to code or just want to find out what it's all about, drop by and say hello. On this prestigious day, will dedicate a full day on the 25th of November for new ideas and solutions to help the communities facing social decline in Greater Manchester. We intend to end the day with an esteemed judging panel who will evaluate the best ideas presented and these will in turn make our new projects to be implemented for the year. Several mentors and trained facilitators will be posted to each group of participants to ensure a day of enriching learning to complement the healthy competition. Food and refreshment will be provided throughout the day. As observers of our presentation rounds, you will have the chance to witness potentially revolutionary ideas that will transform the lives of the underprivileged and the faces of the next generation of aspiring entrepreneurs. Girls -- aged 13-18 -- in the Greater Manchester area! You're invited to participate in the Female Youth Hack -- Inspiring Stories #1. At this 2-day coding competition, you'll learn how to code in a friendly environment and get inspired by real women techies who share their journeys. You'll collaborate with a team of 4 girls and work on a challenge that is set before the event starts.

#HacktheNorth - Helping the region work and grow Use your digital skills and creativity to help solve Manchester’s unemployment challenges, and further cement the city’s position as an international cultural and economic hub. What to expect: The event will be held across two days, from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday 23 November. We'll then start again from 9:30am to 6pm on Friday 24 November. The challenge: DWP Digital will be joined by some of the brightest and most creative people in the north to work on solutions which address one of the most pressing issues in the area. Despite Manchester’s growing popularity among top employers and its reputation as one of the UK's tech hubs, there are still more than 158,000 unemployed people in the North West. The challenge for our hack is to identify and address the barriers to people applying for these jobs, and develop an innovative solution to encourage people to retrain and travel to where the work is. We believe it’s a great opportunity to generate ideas to help further cement Manchester’s place as an international cultural and economic hub, and we'd like to invite you to co-create solutions which could make a difference to this important cause. Event format: We are working in partnership with our sponsors MongoDB. We'll kick things off on Thursday 23 November from 4pm, when we'll set the scene through some quick-fire presentations from a range of speakers.  Ideas will be then be pitched and teams will be formed who’ll then spend the whole day on Friday 24 November putting their ideas into practice before presenting these to our expert panel towards the end of the day. You’ll have access to searchable open-source labour market data to help bring your ideas to life. Our developers, engineers and data science specialists will be on hand with advice and tips. The Health Innovation Exchange want you to join us to provide answers for self care solutions for health challenges. We are collaborating with DigiCreDis, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and Liverpool John Moores University to give the opportunity for healthcare professionals and healthcare patients to set challenge they have always wanted to be solved. De Montfort University in Leicester, England, is holding a Text Hackathon from 12.30pm on Friday 10 November to 12.30pm on Sunday 12 November 2017, at its Eric Wood Learning Zone. Everyone who is interested in searching and analysing large bodies of digital text is welcome to come. All levels of ability and all ages are welcome and will be catered for, from those who know nothing about this topic to those who study it and those who teach it and research it. Free high-quality food--with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and coeliac options--will be served throughout the event.
