Students and Lawyers Against Poverty members in and around Oxford! Oxfam Lawyers Against Poverty invites you to save the date to participate in their Hackathon in Oxford. You'll be challenged to collaborate with like-minded individuals to come up with innovative ways in which you can improve access to justice for communities across the world.

Coders, designers, social and environmental activists in the west of England! You're invited to participate in Beyond Blockchain. Bristol Holochain Hackathon. You'll be challenged to design ad prototype an innovative distributed app solution that uses the next-gen Holochain platform for decentralised power structures.

High tech businesses, innovators, designers, data scientists, coders and business strategists! If you're interested in rail transportation, then you're invited to participate in the HS2 Hackathon. You'll be challenged to come up with an innovative new idea that will help deliver the High Speed 2 infrastructure project. Working on a team of up to five people, you'll collaborate to explore how technologies such as wearable technology, machine learning, and virtual reality might help key aspects of the HS2 project, including staff safety, customer experience, maintenance operations and community impact.

Local Hack Day is a 12 hour mini-hackathon that brings together the local hacker community to celebrate building awesome technology. Omnipresently, other students around the world will be hosting their own Local Hack Days, resulting in the largest single day of student hacking ever. Whether you're a seasoned hackathon veteran or have never been to a hackathon before, Local Hack Day is the best way to meet other techies and even get started on a cool project.If you want to learn to code or just want to find out what it's all about, drop by and say hello. Do you want to learn about electronics and robotics, and program things to move?  Digital Makers at the Guild, every Saturday 12.30 til 2.30pm Students aged 8 to 15, come and learn all there is to know about coding. To start with, you can work on creating your own emojis, interactive graphics, websites, digital stories, games, and much more.  During Digital Makers sessions, you can also have fun making interactive physical things putting together LittleBits or soldering electronic kits. We also have Ozobots, microbits, and a parrot drone which is programmable with Tickle on the iPads. We have a limited number of iPads and laptops, so if you have a laptop or iPad, please bring it along! Designers, developers, and AI enthusiasts in and around Milton Keynes! Festive Road -- the Milton Keynes based art foundation -- invites you to participate in the MK Hackathon 2017. You'll be challenged to design and prototype an innovative tool -- front or back-end -- that will help simplify the searching and classification of photos.

De Montfort University in Leicester, England, is holding a Text Hackathon from 12.30pm on Friday 10 November to 12.30pm on Sunday 12 November 2017, at its Eric Wood Learning Zone. Everyone who is interested in searching and analysing large bodies of digital text is welcome to come. All levels of ability and all ages are welcome and will be catered for, from those who know nothing about this topic to those who study it and those who teach it and research it. Free high-quality food--with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and coeliac options--will be served throughout the event.   HackTheMidlands 2.0 is a 24-hour, inclusive hackathon being hosted in Birmingham on the 23rd/24th September 2017 at Millennium Point. We're super excited to be back for our 2nd iteration, and we'd love to have y'all join us!  But what is going to happen at the event?   Over the 24 hours, people aged 14+ of all skill levels (you don't have to be a professional or a student! Just be lovely, passionate and interested in tech!) will come together to share ideas, and create new and awesome projects! (Not sure what a hackathon is? MLH have a great explanation here). There'll also be fun minigames, challenges and free food/drink to make sure you have an absolutely wonderful time. But I don't have any experience - I won't be any good!    Nonsense - Everyone has to start somewhere, and we will have mentors at the event to help you along. One of the most awesome qualities of hackathons is the sheer number of lovely people that you'll meet at them, so no matter your skill level or expertise, you'll always be able to have an awesome time, pick up loads of new skills, and make new friends!
