Hackathon 2015! The iTag Hackathon is a computer programming and game design competition which teams participate internationally or locally here at the host Nottingham Trent University. This hackathon is part of an IEEE academic conference called the Interactive Technologies and Games Conference (iTag) [Link]. Goal The idea is to create a game (in the most general meaning of the idea) around the Hackathon theme* (secret: which will be revealed before the 72 hour period).  *The aim of the hackathon is to develop an application that can benefit an educational environment or provide enhanced accessibility to a specified user base. For those that wish to take part, all they need to do is register as either an individual or team on our website. All participants can either take part at a designated venue or remotely. Voting  Voting by the iTag IEEE conference delegates will take place, winning and runner-up teams will be acknowledged officially by NTU and iTag. Winning team is also awarded a total cash prize of £250.  When? The Hackathon is taking place from Tuesday, October 20, 9 am until Thursday the October 22, 3 pm (GMT). The 3 day Hackathon programming challenge will be held in Nottingham Trent Pavilion Building in rooms 121, 122, 123. However, on the third day, presentations are held at GameCity. Agenda for the Hackathon event   Tuesday 10Th Nov. 2015:   8:30-9:00: Arrival and registrations  9:00-9:30: Welcome, housekeeping  and introduction to the event 9:30- 10:00: Introduction to proposals and group allocations 10:00-12:00- Teams working on proposals and design of solutions  12:00-13:00- Presentations by each group and feedback from audience  13:00-13:30 Lunch 13:30-18:30: coding on each project with short reports/feedback sessions every two hours  Wednesday 11th:   9:00-9:30: report by each group on lessons learnt  (things which have worked and things which have not worked) and plans for the 2nd day 9:30-13:00: coding on each project with short reports/feedback sessions every two hours  13:00-13:30 Lunch 13:30-3:30: coding on each project with short reports/feedback sessions every two hours 3:30-4:30: packaging and leaving the code on the open source repository  4:30-5:30: Presentations by each group on what has been achieved and future plans  5:30-6:00: Cleanup and close of the event       Hackathon for Health, Assisted Living, Social Care and Community 2015 The Hackathon for assisted living, health, social care and community 2015 is the third event in its series organised jointly by the Vir.AL research group  of De Montfort University and by DS-Cubed Ltd. in association  with the Leicestershire County Council and the Square Mile initiative in De Montfort University. This year's event will be hosted by DS3  at the Innovation Centre of De Montfort University on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11th Nov. 2015. DS3 is a software solution provider that works with students, public bodies and private businesses to deliver solutions to their technical problems.  Proposals  to be developed A web repository for collecting and crowd sourcing data for  skin cancer research  An app for ForeverSavvy charity for coaching adults with learning disabilities Monitor challenging behaviour for a patient with dementia residing in a care home or an inpatient in a community hospital: proposed by Consultant Psychiatrist with the MHSOP In-reach team from NHS A web based app that records mental and physical health observations within an inpatient setting, proposed by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust Fundraising Support App for young volunteers (proposed by the Project Trust Charity) An app for buddying system between university applicants and current students:proposed by a recent graduate and possibly supported by student union (will be implemented if enough developers were present on the day) Other submitted proposals will be developed outside the Hackathon through student projects or as continuation of one of the 5 projects above by DS-Cubed. The software developed during the event will be  Open Source to allow  users and developers to study, change, improve and distribute the software after the event.    Streamline Data Ltd is sponsoring HALE 2015 by providing IT solutions for digital management at the event. There are no ID requirements for theevent itself, but the security of the venue within the university may require an ID and your ticket for allowing you into the buildings. Attendees must be 18+, but but please contact me for cases when  younger developer/ attendee is ccompanied with their parents. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? De Montfort University is only few minutes from Leicester city centre and so public transport should be sufficient to get you to the venue. Please do not bring your car unless if you are travelling from another city. There are no parking spaces in the University but the list of local parkings are here.  What can/can't I bring to the event? Please bring along your laptop, chargers and mobile devices plus development software you normally use. There will be PCs in the labs, but it still helps to have developer laptops. It will be your own responsibility to look after your personal devices and the event cannot accept any responsibility. Where can I contact the organiser with any questions? No, but if there is anyone else who wants to attend they could regsiter themselves and there is no need for email invitations. Can I update my registration information? Yes and please do. We need to have information about your skills and interests to be able to build the groups beforehand.  Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Yes, please.  The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay? We expect this not to happen. Please let the oragisners know if this is the case.
