Girls in the UK aged from 5 to 22! If you're interested in becoming an engineer or a maker, or some other career in STEM, then you're invited to participate in the Stemettes Engineering Hack at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry. If you're under 16, then you'll need to bring an adult -- parent or guardian -- with you. You'll be taught how to create a project using the easy-to-use Tinkercad 3D modeling program. Then, over the weekend, you'll work on your project and present it to a panel of judges for the opportunity to win fun prizes.

For too many children, the ordeal of sexual abuse doesn’t end when the abuse stops. The recording, viewing and sharing of countless photos and videos online mean victims suffer humiliation and misery every time someone clicks on an image of their abuse.
We are calling all engineers, developers, cyber security experts and individuals with awesome skills from Cambridge and around the world to come together and work on innovative projects to help stop distribution of child sexual abuse imagery online.
The Hackathon is a one-day event in at IWF in Cambridge and you are invited to join us to help find and create “tech for good” solutions to make a genuine difference to the victims of online child sexual abuse.
FAQs
What kind of skills do I need?
We welcome anyone who can help technically and/or who has experience with the following:
Write tools to help scrape websites or organise files (images + video)
Experience of ML/AI and NLP
Who can perform OSINT (OpenSource Intelligence)/SOCMINT (Social Media Intelligence)
What should I bring?
Something to work on - tablet, laptop etc.
What will be provided?
Internet access, a comfy place to hack, IWF tech support and encouragement!
Drinks and food will be provided throughout the day. Please state any dietary requirements on the booking form.
All IP developed will be donated to the IWF Hotline for the investigation and removal of child sexual abuse only.
Spaces for the event are limited and RSVP does not guarantee participation, you will receive a confirmation email two weeks in advance.

Join us at our Innovation Friday networking event at the Leicester Innovation Hub. This month the overarching theme is Sustainable Future. We will be discussing and showcasing how Academia-Business collaboration in environmental management is leading to economic growth. A special focus will be given to Space Park Leicester and the opportunities this transformative facility will create for local enterprises in non-space sectors.
During a special session run in association with MSDUK, a number of companies will deliver their business pitch to a panel of judges to win a company focused free activity with the experts of the University of Leicester: a choice among Design Thinking Sprint, Data Analytics Review or Sustainability Audit will be delivered within the business with company’s senior management and their key stakeholders.
A special stage will be given to MSDUK Innovation Challenge to discuss opportunities for BAME businesses, and to the winners of the first Copernicus Hackathon in UK to demonstrate business opportunities enabled by open data policies.
