Starter Weekend - Entrepreneurship Conference

Welcome to the first edition of Starter Weekend, happening at the heart of London!
The weekend will comprise of two hackathons, happening on Saturday and Sunday, as well as talks, workshops and a networking event on Saturday.
Our goal is to incentivize participants to pursue their entrepreneurial objectives, while offering resources to help them in their journey. Attendance is free for all events.

RSK, Genki Solutions and KCL Business Club are pleased to announce the first RSK Hackathon - Positive Impact on Society.
PRIZE POOL: 1 BTC (3,500$ as of writing - to be distributed amongst the winners)
Our sponsors will also offer smaller prizes which will be announced during the weekend.
The event will be held at Bush House, King’s College London, and is open to all inspired hackers who wish to participate in creating impactful blockchain applications. You must have some prior knowledge of blockchain technology to participate. We are looking for those who are eager to learn and recommend reading up on the technology in advance of the hackathon. We expect participants to have prior knowledge of development or a strong blockchain background (if non-technical).
You can instead participate in one of our two other events happening on the same weekend:
London Design Hack
Starter Conference
At the hackathon, hackers will have the opportunity to take part in smaller events happening on Saturday, including talks from founders in the blockchain space and a smart contract workshop.
Hackers are encouraged to use RSK’s platform for cross-blockchain operability and will have the opportunity to get hands-on guidance from RSK’s team during the weekend. However, this is not compulsory.
Pitches will take place on Sunday afternoon. The schedule will be published in the coming weeks. Snacks and drinks will be provided and there will be no overnight stay. The prizes will be announced soon.
About RSK
RSK is the first open-source smart contract platform with a 2-way peg to Bitcoin that also rewards the Bitcoin miners via merge-mining, allowing them to actively participate in the Smart Contract revolution. How will the Crossrail line change London?
In December 2019, London will unveil its newest Crossrail line cutting journey times for many commuters. Using public transportation, housing, and geographic datasets, participants are asked to explore the impact of this new line on London.
You are encouraged to think outside the box to come up with models and visualizations that answer questions about the effects of the Crossrail line.
For example;How will the Crossrail line affect London’s traffic problems?What is the potential time-savings, if any, of daily commuters? What effect, if any, will this have on housing prices?
Datasets
Pivigo will provide datasets from TFL, National Rail, and the City of London, hosted on an Azure platform
Tools
The datasets will be hosted in a Azure data lake, access and support to Azure hosted ML SDKs, Jupyter notebooks, and VMs will be provided. Participants are free to use their own resources.
Who are we looking for?
We invite anyone from beginner to advanced in the field of data analytics and data science to participate. Participants can be students, faculty, government workers, members of NGOs, or industry members. We welcome both teams and lone wolves. It is beneficial if you can code.

Harry Wright
Harry is a software engineer based in London. His passion for blockchain began in 2016 after reading Mastering Bitcoin by Andreas Antonopoulos, which quickly led to an interest in Ethereum and all things crypto. Previously worked as a senior Ethereum Engineer at Totle, a decentralised exchange aggregator, where he spent most of his time developing smart contracts and backend systems. Prior to joining Totle, he worked on the innovation team at Calastone, a fintech company, where he developed a blockchain-based distributed platform for mutual fund transactions. Harry is a senior mentor and a core member at Work on Blockchain monthly developer bootcamp. With a background in embedded systems, Harry is currently finishing a part time Masters in Computer Science at the University of London.
