This is a satellite event to the OpenCon 2017 conference held in Berlin, Germany the week before. The satellite event will feature a hackathon during the day and an evening event. Developers, designers, data visualization experts! If you're interested in the application of technology to monitor masses of news items, then the BBC Connected Studio Team invites you to participate in an edition of BBC #newsHACK that's focused on applications of media monitoring to data journalism. Participating in a two-to-six person multi-skilled team, you'll be challenged to build a prototype that can help data journalists make sense of the accumulated database of global news stories aggregated by SUMMA platform.

Do you feel that there should be more emoji, such as unicorns, kittens or you! Ever wanted to make your own emoji, your favourite games, or digital stories? Do you want to learn about electronics and robotics, and program things to move?  Digital Makers at the Guild, every Saturday 12.30 til 2.30pm Students aged 8 to 15, come and learn all there is to know about coding. To start with, you can work on creating your own emojis, interactive graphics, websites, digital stories, games, and much more.  During Digital Makers sessions, you can also have fun making interactive physical things putting together LittleBits or soldering electronic kits. We also have Ozobots, microbits, and a parrot drone which is programmable with Tickle on the iPads. We have a limited number of iPads and laptops, so if you have a laptop or iPad, please bring it along! You're invited to participate in the Product Hunt Global Hackathon - The Misfits of Tech. This will be a great platform to showcase your skills to prospective employers.

Teenage VR enthusiasts in the Greater London area! Acorn Aspirations invites you to participates in their #AcornHackVR - Virtual Reality Hackathon for Teens. Not only will you meet experts and entrepreneurs from London's VR community, you'll also learn how to turn your VR concept into a working prototype, with a viable business model. Pitch your project to an expert start-up panel for recognition and an opportunity to move ahead!

Fintech developers, designers, and other techies! You're invited to participate in Bank of America Merrill Lynch's (BAML) 2-day Coding Challenge Hackathon Event. You get to learn about the world of financial markets software development and then participate in a coding challenge with the chance to win cash prizes and the opportunity to interview with BAML. The coding challenge is to create a web trading application that BAML traders could use to help them find and uncover new market opportunities.
