Join our hackathon and help us develop a tool to tackle one of the biggest problems facing the UK's Water Supply!

Women in Climate are hosting a Wikipedia hackathon. Come join us to make wikipedia pages for women and minorities in STEM. Please bring along your laptop and 2-3 suggestions of a women or people from a minority  who work in STEM who do not currently have a wikipedia page (but should because they are brilliant). My Library Arts, tech and accessibility Day 1 – 16 February 2019, 11am-3pm Day 2 – 23rd February 2019, 11am-3pm Rougemont Room, Exeter Library (wheelchair accessible) Refreshments and BSL interpretation will be provided. NOTE: PLEASE BOOK FOR BOTH DATES AS THIS IS A TWO DAY EVENT.  This is an exciting opportunity for, disabled, Deaf and non-disabled artists, thinkers, technologists, and arts & tech lovers to attend a two-day event looking at how we can make our libraries the most accessible space possible using arts and technologies. This free event for a small group will lead to funding opportunities for the best ideas to emerge from the sessions.   Libraries have always been democratic spaces, open to and used by everyone, and we want to use creativity and technology to find new ways to make our libraries accessible.    Over the two days, we will discuss, dream and scheme. Ideas will be presented, and funding awarded to research and develop the strongest ideas or to create prototypes during February and March.   Following this period of research and development, we aim to provide further funding to commission at least one prototype during 2019-2020, to be developed and installed in one or more of our Devon Libraries.   Our dream is evocative, innovative, useable art in our libraries to make them a more useful space for a wide range of users.   The event will be led by Libraries Unlimited in partnership with CEDA. To kickstart creativity, artist Sue Austin, Director of Freewheeling will show 360° films in her walk-in surround screen and talk about her world famous underwater wheelchair films and her work with CEDA members. Craig Bowden of CEDA and Creative Consultant Gillian Taylor will share experiences of using technology to create immersive experiences for disabled people. The workshop leaders will work participants to develop their ideas collaboratively, in a supportive environment. During the event, ideas will be developed, including project descriptions and budgets which can be presented to the panel.
