SKYPE: What the Hack(athon)?
30 Jan - 12:30 PM
Newport, United Kingdom
THIS IS AN ONS ONLY EVENT PRESENTERS: Sebnem Oguz, Devolution team; Freyja Bibby, PPA Strategy and Engagement; Joseph Walton, Digital Service and Technology SUMMARY: At the start of November we attended a collaborative event between the Data Science Campus and Barclaycard with the aim of 'using payments data for public good'. Thirty-six hours, one multi-disciplinary team, lots of snacks, some unknown data, and a presentation later, we had the winning pitch. Our idea is now being taken forward as a joint project between the ONS and Barclaycard. The talk will explore what the hackathon was, how it worked, how we felt about it, and what the winning idea was. THIS IS AN ONS ONLY EVENT
