Capital One® Code < FAM /> Hackathon
04 Nov - 08:30 AM
Washington, United States
Developers, Designers, Data Scientists and Idea Generators: Spend the weekend at the Capital One® Code Hackathon to challenge the future of family finances!! Bring yourself, your laptop and your sleeping bag–we’ll take care of the rest.
It's all about the family.
With a Capital One credit card, account holders can grant family members—including their children and significant others—access to their account. An account used by the whole family can have many benefits. When family members have access to their own, unique credit cards and numbers, the account holders can:
Monitor their children’s spending
Build credit for each family member
Educate first-time spenders on the value of credit
Earn rewards from Capital One
Here’s your challenge: Develop a solution that will help improve a family’s management of their day-to-day finances using one credit card account with added family members.
Think about a child’s first credit card, about newlyweds learning to manage their finances, about parents teaching their kids the value of a hard-earned dollar. How can we make the family's finances more accessible and manageable?
Brainstorm an idea, pitch it at the hackathon and work to make it a reality. Don’t have an idea? No problem! You can join a team on-site, or work by yourself.
The event is overnight, and at the end of the event, three projects will be awarded a piece of the $50K prize.
WHERE In Washington D.C. @ The National Union Building.

FIREBASE HACKATHON
Today, mobile platforms are centered around speed and agility. And yet, building for mobile can sometimes feel clunky and slow. It doesn’t have to be that way.
Come join the Google team as we show you how you to build an app in a day. You do this by having your application code talk directly to Firebase’s managed back-end services. This means you spend less time on infrastructure and more time on building the features that your users care about. And in the cases where you need server-side logic, use Cloud Functions – Firebase’s scaleable serverless solution.
Start the day by learning about Firebase and Cloud Functions. Then put it into practice during our afternoon Hackathon and competition. We’ll have Firebase engineers and experts around to help you turn your idea into an app. We can’t wait to see what you build next.
Join Google engineers, product managers and other industry experts
We’ve invited Googlers and experts from around the world to speak with you about the topics on our agenda.
