Goal of the hackathon Help InsurTech startups and entrepreneurs generate and refine a business plan and identify steps to take their ideas to the next level. Why a hackathon? Hackathons are known for their ability to stimulate creative, free-flowing ideas. By working with others, people are able to connect and create in ways they would not do by themselves. Hackathons are known as marathon coding competitions aimed at solving particular issues. This hackathon will not involve coding. Regardless, we encourage coders and non-coders to attend. Who can attend? The event is open to anyone with interest in InsurTech. If you are in idea stage or revenue generating, the event is open to you. If you welcome even if do not have an InsurTech idea. She is also a Founder and Co-Organizer of the NYC Sales Development Meetup Group. Meg has a Bachelor's Degree from Elon University in Strategic Communications and International Studies. Flavia Bento de Faria Flavia is the Director of Growth and Programs at Findyr. Businesses use Findyr for market research, due diligence and economic data. She is also the New York Regional Board Co-Chair for Indego Africa, a non-profit with the mission to empower and uplift artisan women in Africa through employment opportunities and education. Flavia has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Barnard College, as well as a Masters in International Relations and Affairs from Columbia University. Ashley Gushue Ashley is a Product Operations Manager at Google. She has been with them since April 2010 where she has also worked as a Senior Media Manager and AdTech Specialist. Ashley has a BA in Advertising, Psychology, and International Studies from Penn State University.

        Is it possible to set up a microservices application with a separate functioning front-end in 30 minutes? With JHipster 4 it is!  Not only is a fully functional service running in 30 minutes, but you also get a service registry that provides scalability and load balancing.  Using provided Docker Compose configurations, the entire stack can be run locally without installing anything but Docker. Also, JHipster includes full monitoring using the ELK stack.  Very cool stuff for a hot summer evening! Prerequisites Java 8+ IDE (IntelliJ IDEA preferred) Please only register if you intend on attending the workshop. Our follow-along workshop presenter, Dennis Sharpe, is a software architect with over 20 years experience leading, designing, and coding software applications. He has experience in a variety of different industries including healthcare, federal government, loyalty, marketing, utilities, telecommunications, and financial. He has experience speaking at several conferences and events including DevFest and Java User Groups. He also has experience training and providing technical leadership for hackathons and coding dojos.
