    Chi Hack Night
      03 Dec - 06:00 PM
      Chicago, United States
The Chi Hack Night is a free, weekly event in Chicago to build, share and learn about civic tech and tools to create, support, or serve public good. Join us every Tuesday from 6-9:30pm on the 8th floor of the Merchandise Mart to hear from interesting speakers, learn from each other and work on civic projects. Non-techies are very welcome!RSVP before noon the day of the event is now required. Walk-ins will unfortunately not be allowed. What happens at a hack night? Every week, we have a 10-15 minute presentation by a government agency, non-profit, company or group who've made use of open data or built a civic technology application. The goal of these presentations is to showcase the different uses and opportunities, as well as challenges and successes in the civic technology movement. After the presentation, the format of the event is similar to that of a hackathon where breakout groups self-organize to work on civic apps, discuss policies and their implications, learn technical skills and network with a welcoming and diverse community at the intersection of technology and government.   But I'm not a techie! That's ok! We encourage non-technical folks to pair up and learn from our community's designers and developers. We've seen time and time again, the best civic projects come from teams with a diverse background. Remember, there's much more to making a great app than just coding.

We are happy to transfer your ticket to a co-worker should your plans change.   Overview DisruptHR Chicago is an information exchange designed to energize, inform and empower executives, business leaders, and professionals in the vast and important fields of Human Resources. The Event An hr.hackathon is a 2-hour workshop that provides a forum for HR innovators to collaborate with 40-50 peers by tackling a specific HR challenge. hr.hackathon events have inspired more than 250 HR and business professionals in the Chicago area and are now also hosted in other cities as part of the hr.hackathon alliance. The hr.hackathon event format was designed by Nicole Dessain in 2017 based on feedback from the DisruptHR Chicago community and her passion for design thinking. Check out the awesome ideas generated at previous hr.hackathon Chicago events.                     Chicago, United States

HackTomorrow is a weekend long hackathon, or invention competition, where participants like you work to solve a problem they believe should be worked on. With mentors, workshops, free food, and collaborative space, you’ll be able to freely create something with resources and help you might not regularly have access to Besides the free food, swag, cool prizes, available resources, mentors, job opportunities, and educative workshops, HackTomorrow is an environment that allows you to complete the projects lingering in your mind faster than you thought possible. You’re forced to think faster and harder and walk out that weekend knowing you’ve solved a problem that means something.   FAQs   How much does it cost? Nothing! Our mission is to help people get the tools they need regardless of economics, and putting up a barrier like an entry fee goes against what we value. Do I need a team? It's completely up to you. You can come with a team, come alone and find a team, or just build by yourself the whole weekend. What should I bring? We recommend bringing a sleeping bag, any hardware you need like a laptop, chargers, phones and then some basic toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant, etc. What can I make? Anything you feel solves a problem that's important to you. There are no rules or limits to what you're allowed to create. Who can come? Anyone older than 18 is welcome to be a part of HackTomorrow 2019. We're working on making HackTomorrow available for high school students.
