About Hacktoberfest 2015!
We're bringing a month-long campaign to spread the passion for computer science to more K-12 students in Los Angeles! With the help of our volunteers and community partners, we are delivering the industry-relevant educational resources that will empower students to make awesome projects!

Educational Content:
Hardware & Wearables: Want to know what tools you can use to build Iron Man? Learn the skills necessary to harness the powers of arduinos, Myo and drones using a sampling of Python, C++, C#, Javascript, and even 3D printing! WearHacks will be providing a hardware lab and curriculum at select events!
Web Development: Learn web development from the people that put hacker clubs at every high school - HackEDU. From discovering the power of Github to making your first website, you'll learn the HTML/CSS & Javascript you need to be ready for the world wide web!
Virtual Reality: Ever heard of the Matrix? This is very similar! Learn how to build your own worlds using Unity and port it to virtual reality (VR) headsets like the Oculus! Learn to build your own games and meet the people that are driving the industry forward!
Mobile Game Development: Ever wanted to learn how to make games like Clash of the Clans or Flappy Bird? You'll have the opportunity to learn iOS Development using the new programming language - Swift! And for those of you that are more advanced, we will show you how to use secret ingredients they call APIs!
Hack Hours
Who: This event is open to 9th-12th grade students in high school.
What: Three-hour events in which mentors from Hacker Fund teach various technologies afterschool using curriculum & hardware from HackEDU & WearHacks.
When: Mondays/Wednesday from 4:00pm-7:00pm PST
Where: Rhubarb Studios, located at 633 W 5th St, #1400, Los Angeles, CA 90071
Materials: Please bring your computer, valid/current school ID, and evenrbrite ticket. Snacks will be provided.
Virtual Reality Sessions
Who: This event is open to 9th-12th grade students in high school.
What: Three-hour events in which mentors from Hacker Fund teach Unity & Virtual Reality Game Development.
When: Fridays from 4:30pm-7:30pm PST (October 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th in 2015)
Where: Hatch Studios located at 2260 Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90064.

Microsoft Hack Day
Who: This event is open to 9th-12th grade students in high school.
What: We are teaming up with Microsoft to bring an unforgettable taste-test of technologies. We'll start with interactive maker kits and then an introduction to game development for the web and virtual reality.

24-Hour Hackathon
Who: This event is open to 9th-12th grade students in high school. This is an over-night event.
What: Join us for a hackathon that is bringing the city together to inspire the youth in Los Angeles - an overnight innovation sprint with a skyline view from the tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi. We will have workshops powered by Microsoft, HackEDU, WearHacks, and other technology partners. Here's the rundown of workshops:

Teacher Day - Sunday October 25th
We are inviting teachers and school administrators to come learn about how to incorporate the hackathon into the classroom. Attendees of this seminar will receive resources & materials that they can use in the future to engage their students. After the seminar, teachers & administrators will be free to explore the hackathon expo. Lunch will be provided.

POV / Film Independent Hackathon (POV Hackathon 10) Screening & Reception - Los Angeles

Los Angeles! Join POV for the final screening of prototypes created at POV / Film Independent Hackathon (POV Hackathon 10) on Sunday, October 4, at 7 p.m.
POV Hackathon is a weekend laboratory that since 2012 has provided matchmaking and mentorship for visionary nonfiction media makers and inventive technologists as they create prototypes that re-invent the documentary for the web.
POV Hackathon has had a 100% prototype production rate, and teams have often continued to work together, premiering finished products at high-profile events such as the Tribeca Film Festival and the New York Film Festival, while other teams have attracted new funding, from organizations such as the Knight Foundation. Fast Company recently called POV Hackathon one of the year's "most anticipated events."
