About HackSI
A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects. Occasionally, there is a hardware component as well. Hackathons typically last between a day and a week in length. Some hackathons are intended simply for educational or social purposes, although in many cases the goal is to create usable software. Hackathons tend to have a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, the subject and the demographic group of the programmers. In other cases, there is no restriction on the type of software being created.

FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
All participants must fill out all of the registration documents located on our site here:
https://hacksi.org/registration/forms
If that participant is under the age of 18, their parent/legal guardian must also sign the forms and return them to the registration desk at the time of the event. Participants will not be allowed access to the event without a signed consent form.
Participants under the age of 13 will need to have a parent with them during the event. We do not have enough volunteers to work with unattended children during the event. Please be aware that an adult will have to stay with any child under the age of 13 for the entire duration of the event. Thanks for understanding.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
You should bring your own laptops, hardware, parts & accessories that you will need to complete your hack. Some hardware and laptops may be available to use for those that do not have access to their own. Desktop computers are allowed but discouraged due to space & power limitations of the facility.

IoT Hackathon for HSers
27 Oct - 10:00 AM
Paducah, United States
Learn how to solve a real-world industry problem using hands-on engineering design, advanced robotics, and your creative mind! The day starts with a talk about the issue at hand from our industry expert. We will move on to small teams for brainstorming and then on to rapid prototyping of our ideas. Then, we will use microprocessors and other cool techie stuff to actually make our idea work (we hope!). And finally, your team will get to pitch and demo your solution.
For high school students.
