oneM2M Tutorial & Hackathon, March 9 - 10, 2018 @ UTD
09 Mar - 09:00 AM
Richardson, United States
Are you a student or technical professional who wants to create impressive IoT solutions? What if we gave you training, tools and mentoring to participate in an exciting challenge to create building blocks for Smart City applications? Join us for a 2-day oneM2M tutorial and hackathon.
Note: Event is open to 18+ year old participants.
ABOUT THE TUTORIAL
The tutorial will present the IoT vision, challenges, and efforts achieved by the standardization bodies to design a globally agreed IoT service platform. The oneM2M standard (www.onem2m.org) will be introduced as a promising solution for IoT cross-domain interoperability. The participants will be asked to follow practical sessions to learn how to quickly integrate heterogeneous IoT devices and develop IoT applications based on the open source project Eclipse OM2M (www.eclipse.org/om2m).
THE CHALLENGE
Come up with a great idea for Smart City application and work together with others to learn new technologies, present your ideas and compete for prizes.
Challenge details will be communicated on Day #1
Winners and prizes will be announded on Day #2
YOUR TOOLS
You will learn how to use the oneM2M API for developing applications and integrating devices on top of the Eclipse OM2M platform. All participants will receive device kits to use during the event and to keep: http://amzn.to/2H32fwt
Here is an environment setup exercise that we will work together: http://bit.ly/2oSSR70
And this is an actual oneM2M application that you will build and test: http://bit.ly/2HbM289

Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Con 2018
22 Feb - 08:00 AM
Farmers Branch, United States
Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Con 2018 (BCC-2018) will be the first international conference in Texas devoted to the blockchain technology. It will be an opportunity for all involved in the arena, whether they are building Dapps and crypto-assets on blockchains, implementing DAOs, mining and trading cryptocurrencies, developing blockchain-based tokens and protocols, operating in the ICO spectrum, or involved on the regulatory side of things to come together to explore and exchange ideas around a technology that's set to completely reshape how we interact and conduct business in the near future.
If you are a developer, hackathons are planned for Day 1 where you can participate in teams or code solo to build a decentralized application on your favorite blockchain protocol. There will also be a formal training class conducted by one of our developer training partners.
It's going to be a fun-and-learn event. Seating is limited, so register now!.
This may change, but the conference venue will be the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Farmers Branch, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. The conference dates are Thursday, February 22 - Saturday, February 24, 2018. To be notified of any changes prior to the event, follow us on Twitter.

Microsoft Cloud Workshop: IoT on the Edge
09 Feb - 09:00 AM
Irving, United States
Microsoft Cloud Workshops are the closest thing to building your own Azure solution. Experts will guide attendees through real case studies, architecture design whiteboarding, and full end-to-end solution hackathons. IoT on the Edge Case Study & Hackathon:
The goal of this hackathon is to develop a POC-quality IoT Edge solution that shows how the following solution could be developed
AdventureWorks Manufacturing (AWM), a discrete manufacturer of both aluminum and wooden baseball bats, wants to centrally and remotely monitor their production line
A critical, and often failing, component of their production lines are the motors that drive their industrial lathes
AWM wishes to provide the monitoring data to the cloud for use by their operations managers
However, the overheating of a lathe motor is time-critical and requires local warning and immediate action by the line operator
AWM wishes to implement a hybrid IoT solution whereby both telemetry and alert data is sent to the cloud for central monitoring, yet time-critical alerting of motor temperatures runs on the Edge
Technologies Covered:
Azure IoT Remote Monitoring Pre-Configured Solution
Azure IoT Hub
Azure IoT Edge
Azure Stream Analytics (running on Edge)
Azure Functions (running on Edge)
Who should attend these workshops?
IoT solution architects
IoT solution developers
