Hack the Fog: SF's first high school hackathon
        03 Mar - 10:00 AM
        San Francisco, United States
Visit our website to sign up and for more information! Our team is proud to host the very first high school hackathon in San Francisco! Over the last year, there were many hackathons targeted at high school students in the Bay Area - but they were all in South Bay and Fremont. This makes the hackathon experience very inaccessible to students in San Francisco and Oakland school districts, which are usually an hour's drive away or more from these hackathons. Our team, consisting of a group of dedicated and hard-working Lowell High School students, is organizing this event to provide this unique experience for our peers, and all high schoolers in the Bay Area. Together, we are working to make the fun hackathon learning experience accessible to all.   FAQs   Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? All high school students no older than 18 are welcome to Hack the Fog, including those residing outside of San Francisco. Please bring a valid school ID to the event.   What can I bring into the event? All attendees are required to bring a form of ID for admission. Laptops, chargers, sleeping bags, and toiletries are highly recommended.   Who do I contact with any other questions or concerns? Email us at contact@hackthefog.com! We also have a website at www.hackthefog.com with more information.

The New Economy, The Tokenisation of Everything
            22 Feb - 06:00 PM
            San Francisco, United States
Pavel Kravchenko, technology entrepreneur, cryptographer, software architect, blogger, public speaker and relentless dreamer, will be talking about the tokenisation of everything.... Pavel will be speaking to us about the tokenization of everything and specifically the following: How tokenization is different from ICOs What the key benefits of having your asset tokenized Which Blockchain (public / private / hybrid) should be conisdered There’s so much energy around blockchain projects currently. Much of the excitement has less to do with the capabilities of distributed ledger technology and smart contracts, and more to do with recent multi-million-dollar ICOs and token sales used to launch startups in a new way. Now people are attempting to tokenize all sorts of different assets. Everything is capable of being tokenized, from shares to money to receipts to loyalty programs, and issued in multiple blockchains.  About Pavel Kravchenko: Dr. Pavel Kravchenko holds a PhD in technical sciences and is the founder of Distributed LabPavel studied information security since 2003, including topics in advanced cryptography. He then won a series of all-Ukrainian academic competitions (2005 -2007) and received awards for producing the best student research in 2007 and 2008.Pavel received his PhD in Cryptography in 2012 from the Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics, after publishing a groundbreaking thesis on securing public infrastructure. From 2006 to 2009, Pavel worked as a security engineer at the leading security company in Ukraine, was involved in a SAP security project, and built out the PKI infrastructure in Ukraine. From 2009 to 2013, Pavel was the team leader and project manager for several IT projects, including being responsible for Rabobank’s mobile application development. Pavel started his blockchain and cryptocurrencies career and research at Silicon Valley startup, Stellar. In 2014 Pavel cofounded Distributed Lab, a venture dedicated to advancing the cryptocurrency and blockchain state of the art through independent R&D, government projects, collaborations with national universities, and standard-setting initiatives. Beyond operating as a successful business, Distributed Lab has as a core mission developing cutting-edge enterprise tokenization solutions, laying the groundwork for the coming “Financial Internet”. Distributed Lab now has 50 full-time and highly dedicated employees. Distributed Lab organizes dozens of events every year for the Crypto community – ranging from intensive small-format meetups and hackathons, to large scale international conferences which draw 1000+ attendees. Pavel himself travels around the world to speak at conferences and give seminars. Pavel has conducted over ten full-term courses in universities on blockchain technology and related topics since 2014.
