This July, extraSlice is taking the lead in promoting women's’ opportunities in tech fields by hosting a 3-Day Hackathon for women and girls. Participants should start thinking of their ideas now; we’ll hear 60 second pitches from the first 30 participants. We will take the top 10 ideas, and divide the groups in to 10 teams, to execute each idea.  Participants will use technology to create a solution to a common problem from any industry, from shopping and retail, parking, use in volunteer programs, and more.  Each of the 10 teams will select a woman to lead, but we welcome and encourage men and boys to participate as well!         HARMONY is a hackathon-type meeting, with a focus on development of the standards, interoperability and infrastructure. There are generally not many general discussions or oral presentations during HARMONY; instead, the time is devoted to allowing hands-on hacking and interaction between people focused on practical development of software and standards. Limited funds for travel and registration reimbursement are available for students. Please fill out this form to be considered. If you would like to be reimbursed for registration please DO NOT register until after your application is approved. We will send you a code to allow you to register for free.

We’re seeking teams and individuals who have a desire to contribute to the integration of technology with sports. The Hackathon will take place June 24th-25th, from 8:00AM Saturday to 8:00PM Sunday. Location will be both at the Sounders Ninety and Galvanize Pioneer Square (111 S. Jackson St., Seattle WA 98104) What Do You Get?               We are hosting a bi monthly 3D printing classes where youth can come together to practice their 3D printing skills, share their ideas and receive feedback to enhance their 3D products to sell to the community. In this class, students will learn how to creating drones using 3D printing skills. All students will be give 20 minutes of instruction and get hands on experience with 3D printing with realtime feedback from the instructors. We will provide the drone creation kit along with 3D printed frames for students to assemble their own drone. All the money raised from these classes will support hosting STEAM3D Hackathons in our community. In addition, we will be closely collaborating with the students to use the 3D printing skills to solve problems within the community.
