What its all about...
This hackathon is not your typical hackathon, for several reasons:
All proceeds and sponsorship funds collected will be donated to the charity of choice, as nominated by the winning hackathon team. This will not only focus on the Power Platform but as many of the associated Office and Azure features and functions you can possibly think of.
You can donate here through the eventbrite donation funcitonality.
Any and all donations would be appreciated and will be given to the selected charity of the winning team.
We would encourage a $25 donation per participant :)
Participants of all types are welcome. This is a great opportunity for everyone to put their heads together to think about solving a real-world problem with technology and some innovative thinking.
Each team’s solution will be posted on the Power Community (Prefiously known as TDG) website and made public as an example of how technology can be utilised in not-for-profit organisations for the benefit of humanity

Why the focus on Not for Profit?
There are many issues that not-for-profit organisations are facing today. Often, these organisations don’t have the opportunity, or time, to even think about innovation and the mechanisms available to promote change and growth within their organisations. Leveraging Microsoft’s technology stack provides so many innovative features and solutions that can assist with all kinds of possibilities around helping those less fortunate and able. We want YOU, the amazing participants, to think of, and create, a scenario where using the Microsoft technology stack could assist an organisation achieve more and increase their positive impact on society.
The Types of Microsoft technology we will be focusing on are: Power Platform, Office365, Dynamics 365, & Azure.

Data Science Learnathon: From Raw Data to Deployment
05 Feb - 06:00 PM
Dallas, United States
This data science learnathon covers the entire data science cycle and gives participants the chance to work together on guided exercises.
What is a learnathon? It's between a hackathon and a workshop. It's like a workshop because we'll learn more about the data science cycle - data access, data blending, data preparation, model training, optimization, testing, and deployment. It's like a hackathon because we'll work in groups to hack a workflow-based solution to guided exercises. The tool of choice for this learnathon is KNIME Analytics Platform.
KNIME Analytics Platform is an open, open-source, GUI driven, data analytics platform, that covers all your data needs from data import to final deployment. Being open, KNIME Analytics Platform offers a vast integration and IDE environment for R, Python, SQL, and Spark.
After an initial introduction to the tool and to the data science cycle, we will split in groups. Each group will focus on one of three aspects of the data science cycle:
Group 1. Working on the raw data. Data access and data preparation.
Group 2. Machine Learning. Which model shall I use? Which parameters?
Group 3. I have a great model. Now what? The model deployment phase.
We will provide a few datasets, jump-start workflows and final solutions for the proposed tasks, and of course data science experts. Please bring your own laptop with KNIME Analytics Platform pre-installed. To install KNIME Analytics Platform, follow the instructions provided in these YouTube videos:
Windows
Mac
Linux
If you would like to get familiar with KNIME Analytics Platform, you can explore the content of our E-learning course.
Please also download the workshop material (jump-start workflows and instructions) from here. We will import this material during the learnathon.

National Kappa League Conference Financial Literacy program
History
Conceived in 1922 by Leon W. Stewart, and suggested at the twelfth Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Guide Right became the fraternity’s national service program.. Leon Steward is the founder of the National Guide Right movement of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Past Western Province Polemarch. Soon after the St. Louis Alumni Chapter’s beginning in 1921, Leon W. Steward and J. Jerome Peters were assigned to research possible programs that would assist in developing the youth of the Black community and to devise a “meaningful and practical approach” to the problem of Black youth underachievement.
Ultimately, Brother Steward, proposed a program of guidance to be designated as Guide Right, with the purpose of assisting high school seniors to choose and pursue useful careers. The focus of Guide Right, from its inception, was to provide scholarships to needy and talented students, and to inform young people of the professions and other career options.
The founding objectives of Guide Right may be summarized as follows:
To help youth in selection of courses leading to vocations compatible with their aptitudes and personalities.
To assist students while they are in training, to get started in employment, and to progress successfully in their chosen fields.
To assist parents in the handling of their children by giving them opportunities to talk over their problems with those who know and are successful in their chosen vocations.
To afford the less fortunate youths a respite from the drudgery of the streets, through sponsored entertainment and cultural enrichment.
To inform youth of the values of higher education, of assistance available for continued educational pursuits.
