Game Jam Pittsburgh - Dream it. Build it. Play it.
23 Jun - 06:00 PM
Pittsburgh, United States
Let’s build something playable and amazing.
Game Jam PGH is a unique event where makers, designers, programmers, and tinkerers come together for a weekend of workshopping their game ideas. Bring your ideas and unique skills and help create something awesome.
Teams will form on Friday, June 23rd and will work until the panel judging on Sunday, June 25th. Then, teams will have a week to clean up their game for public judging on Friday, June 30th.
The winning team will have their game featured as a tournament at ReplayFX, one of the industry’s biggest gaming conventions located here in Pittsburgh July 27-30th. Cash prizes of $1000, $500, and $250 will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize respectively so the work can continue.
This game jam is open to everyone, whether you can program or not. Teams will be formed on Friday if you do not have a team prepared beforehand. Artists, musicians, programmers, designers, game designers, and more are all welcome at this jam.
Rules:
This game jam is following the standard Global Game Jam/Ludum Dare rules where all content must be created between June 23rd and June 30th.

Judging
Games will be judged on the following criteria (that may change before the start of the Jam, but not after).
Gameplay - is the game fun, engaging
Tournament ready - can the game be played as a tournament at ReplayFX
Audience Appeal - does the game capture an audience and make them want to watch
Completeness - does the game do everything it should to work (start screen, pause, not crash, have music and sound fx)
Putted Togetherness - do all of the parts of the game go together, especially visually
To have a game considered for winning, it must be able to be run in a tournament format at ReplayFX. Games do not have to be multi-player, it can be score or timing based as well. Games should be limited to 10-20 minutes maximum to allow the tournament to be run in a reasonable amount of time.
This hackathon is brought to you by Academy Pittsburgh, Looking for Group, and the Replay Foundation, organizations passionate about gaming, creating, and community.
