Hexagon NYC is excited to invite you to HexHacks, a design jam event focused on bringing our minds together to create solutions that can promote underrepresented communities in tech and uplift our community of women and non-binary individuals!
Design Challenges:
Unconscious Bias: Create unique, technology-driven tools that can help anyone learn about how to identify, understand and improve the influence of unconscious bias in the workplace
Powered by Perspective: Create a tool that helps allies learn ways to support women in the workplace and the tech community
Access to opportunities: Build technology that helps women in tech find resources, events, mentorship
Celebrating Role Models: Develop a solution that highlights senior women leaders in tech and tells their stories, with the goal of inspiring girls and younger women to pursue tech careers

Ever wanted to give your ideas a more refined UI? Ever wanted to quickly build a cool dashboard?
Come learn the latest (and quickest) ways to develop in the frontend universe. Learn a little bit of React, a little bit of Redux and a little bit of SASS - More than enough that you can confidently setup your next world-changing project.
This workshop will focus on giving you the right tools and basic knowledge to use across projects. It will show you how these tools work together to let you write cutting edge code without sweating a lot about the details.
Requirements - Visual Studio Code / Sublime Text (or similar), node and npm installed,Knowledge of basic HTML, CSS and JS.
About the Speaker :
Karan Rajpal is a full-stack web developer at Moat, an ad-tech shop in Manhattan. He works on the company’s analytics dashboard and he uses React, Redux, Postgres and NodeJS. He has a background in Web and App development and has released a Chrome Extension and an Android app. A fan of hackathons, he recently took an interest in Natural Language Processing to work on an intra-company chatbot. Outside this tech realm, he is a music lover and wannabe tennis player.

Join us for a hackathon on October 27th to test and give feedback on our collaborative coding platform. Subspace is a code-hosting application where anyone can contribute to any project, and where skill ratings and peer-review help to guide the merge/pull-request process.
Participants will be rewarded with $30 worth of their favorite cryptocurrency, along with pizza and beer.
Requirements: you are a professional software developer who knows Javascript/React, you are experienced using git, and you have a StackOverflow account.
