If Workshop 1 is soldout) -- $375.00 Mic Builders Workshops: $375.00 We will be building the T-47 from microphone-parts.com!  The nearest commercial equivalent is the Mojave MA-201 FET (MSRP $795). The kit has custom PCBs, a recreation of the Neumann KM84 circuit (improved and hot-rodded), and a custom transformer.  The finished mic has higher output than the Mojave, and it has both a 10dB pad and cardioid/omni switch. The website price for the kit is $349 including a nice-looking unbranded microphone body. Cheeper mics are avalable but at that level I think it might be easier just to buy a mic from china. By the way, the component count is low enough that some of you could build 2 or more in a day. If you want to by more than 2 please contact me directly.  Colour Platform "Hack-a-thon": 10:30AM to 5:00PM: $30  (If you have experience with design, Spice, Eagle etc. please contact Owen to join a design team at no cost.) This is not a formal lecture but we will sell tickets for those who would like to help, observe or simply support the design teams. The design teams will do what they can to share their design process as they work.   Each team will: Simulate the circuit in software. Build and test the circuit on a Prototyping PCB. Generate manufacturing files so that PCBs can be mass produced.   The Colour Platform has so much potential! It is our hope that the circuts from this workshop will be mass produced for sale at DIY.Re and avalable at cost to a builders workshops.  "Colour was designed with and for the DIY audio community. ProtoHack exists to show non-coders that they can create something amazing from nothing. We empower and enable the non-technical community with the tools, knowledge and connections that will help bring their idea to life and visually communicate it through prototyping. How does it work? No coding is required. Instead you will use prototyping tools, drag and drop editors, mockups, wireframes and anything else you can think of to VISUALLY demo your idea on stage. (We’ve put together the best tools for non-coders, so don’t fret if you’ve never prototyped.) Although we encourage you to try some prototyping tools prior to attending ProtoHack, we will begin ProtoHack with optional educational workshops on how to use some of the top prototyping tools. You can choose to prototype alone or form a team with other participants and decide on an idea together. Teams can be up to 5 people. You will have 9 hours to produce a prototype. (Remember, you are creating a lean prototype of your idea and it doesn't need to be perfect. The focus should be on visually showing what the idea is.) The Hack4Fem (#Hack4Fem) hackathon is an event where engineers and other technical people will meet with activists working on feminism-related causes to talk and hack on ways to use technology to support feminist activism. We aim to expose problems and challenges that activists face on a regular basis and how technology can help make their efforts easier. BovControl is building the Internet of Cows (IoC), of which a critical aspect will be a new type of "wearable" sensor for data collection in the field. Join us at the MADE Hardware Lab at MassChallenge in the Seaport for a hackathon sprint to conceptualize, prototype, and test the next generation of cattle management hardware.  BovControl will provide all necessary resources: full access to our API, a state-of-the-art hardware lab, specific industry knowledge, pilot ranches for testing, and top-tier consultants for go-to-market strategies.

We're looking for a good mix of talented people from a variety of backgrounds -- both students and nonstudents -- to be part of our 3rd annual HackFest, where you will use technology to solve challenges facing older adults. $11,000 in Prizes (Grand Prize: $5,000, 2 Runner’s Up: $2,000; People’s Choice: $1,000) This year, we'll be at the University of Massachusetts Boston from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2015 (please note the event venue will be closed from midnight-6am each night/morning, however, you may continue hacking elsewhere during that time). For those that can stick around until Monday, we're providing all teams a space to present their completed tool to over 8,000 attendees of the LeadingAge Annual Meeting EXPO on Nov. 2, 2015. Instructions  Please apply as an individual. Our coordinators will develop teams of 4 to 6 participants. Remember, not everyone who applies will be accepted. AND, you must be 18 years of age to participate. The application period closes on Oct. 7, 2015, at 11:30 p.m. We'll give you a thumbs up or a thumbs down about your application sometime in September. If you are accepted, you will be asked to confirm your participation and supply a $35 refundable deposit to hold your spot. Your deposit is 100% refundable, which means we'll give it back to you once you actually show up in Boston and participate in our 2015 HackFest. If you don't show up, we will probably spend it. Warm-up to VR Hackathon? The break neck pace of Virtual Reality continues in Boston with a Virtual Reality Hackathon and Workshop. This Hackathon will help you prepare  for an even bigger VR hackathon this fall letting individuals meet, form teams and hone their skills. If you are a VR expert come and stretch if you are new to VR get started and build your first VR app. This event is designed to be all inclusive - so attendees will develop for Google Cardboard. You don't need your own VR equipement just a laptop and an Android or iPhone that fits into the Google Cardboard.  If you have your own VR equipment, Bring Your Own VR (BYOVR) equipment.  The first 100 attendees will be given a free View-Master VR (Compatible with Google Cardboard) Google Cardboard to use during the hackathon and to take home afterwards. Want to reimagine the future of learning? Want to tackle challenges facing education? Interested in developing a new school model? Got ideas for an educational app? Inspired to solve problems that plague our education system? Harvard HackED, an education hackathon organized by HIVE (Harvard GSE Innovation & Ventures in Education), is a 3­-day event for student teams to propose, design, and test solutions to educational challenges. Mentors and workshop leaders will guide participants through ideation, prototyping, testing, and pitching. HIVE invites Harvard and other Boston-area undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds, including education, policy, engineering, science, arts, design, business, and more to participate in our Hackathon, to create new education-related projects from scratch and develop them over a period of 3 days.  Technical skills or programming experience is not required. Bring your creativity, energy, and open mind to share with fellow participants!     TENTATIVE SCHEDULE Friday 10/16 (3-­7pm) - Kick Off Onsite registration, orientation, and team formation. Saturday 10/17 (9am­-7pm) Brainstorming, idea refinement, mockup, testing, and presentation preparation. Starting early at 9am, group mentors and experts will work with individual groups to push ideas forward and help build momentum. The day wraps at 7pm with a final push for preparing team demos and presentations. Sunday 10/18 (12­-4pm) - Hackathon Showcase & Celebration Teams pitch their ideas to a judging panel, who will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback and critique. NOTE To ensure the best experience for those who take part in the event, we are limiting the total number of participant slots. We will work to accommodate as many interested applicants as possible.   FAQs Is the event open only to HGSE or Harvard University students? This event is open to ALL undergraduate and graduate students in the Boston area and we encourage everyone interested to apply! I've never attended a hackathon before. Can I still apply? Absolutely! There are no prerequisites for attendance. We will scaffold the experience in such a way that everyone can contribute and learn, regardless of technical or education experience. Where can I find out more details about specific agenda items for the weekend? Once your participation is confirmed by our event coordinator, you will receive detailed information for the weekend, including a full agenda, hackathon background information, and detailed logistics. What if I am unable to participate for some portion of the weekend (e.g. 'I cannot attend Friday night')? Active attendance is required all weekend. There is a public kickoff on Friday at 3pm that we encourage all to attend. Mandatory attendance is required starting at 4:30pm on Friday through Sunday at 3pm.

The Boston Area Sustainability Group (BASG) is excited to continue our fall event series with a focus on clean energy and renewables. Our co-host this month is The CleanTech Open, a not-for-profit organization that runs the world's largest accelerator for cleantech startups. Mark Vasu, Executive Vice President, Greentown Labs As Executive Vice President, Mark Vasu leads and supports revenue-generating activities that sustain and grow Greentown Labs. This includes managing corporate sponsors, partnerships and overseeing the member pipeline. He leads the effort to build the brand, visibility and partnerships. He also consults to and supports a national network of cleantech incubators, helping to build the ecosystem given Greentown Labs’ position as the nation’s largest clean tech incubator. The TVnext Hack is a one-of-a-kind event, influencing and inspired by TVnext—Hill Holliday Group’s annual conference exploring the future of television. Hosted several weeks prior to TVnext, the hackathon brings products and developers together to build the future of television. This year’s event will be focused on the devices and platforms that are powering innovation in television. Developers will be integrating various technologies using those platforms and devices. At the conclusion of the event, 5 winners will be chosen to showcase their innovations at TVnext on October 26th, and compete for the grand prize of $2,500.
