Come on out and meet the Teams registered for the UPNEXT 1.0 hackathon competition. UPNEXT 1.0 brings early-stage startups into focus by providing them an event where they can compete for cash and prizes. If you’re interested in entering the UPNEXT 1.0 competition follow this LINK to register.
During this event we’ll introduce the UPNEXT 1.0 teams, review the rules and judging criteria for the competition and provide paths to coaching and mentorship.
The UPNEXT 1.0 event runs through the week – the UPNEXT Pitch Competition takes place on Saturday 10/17 at 6pm.

Have you every had a great idea for product or service? Or perhaps you want to help build “the next big thing”? UpNext 1.0 is a week-long contest in which your team builds a minimal viable product version of your idea. During the week, compete against other teams and win actual cash and other prizes.
EVENT DETAILS
Teams are consist of at least three team members. Don’t worry if you don’t have a full team yet, we have a forum to help you to meet others.
You can build anything. We welcome teams that are hardware, software, or are creating a physical product. Some examples include: software as service, wearable devices, 3D printed goods.
Teams are able to network and connect with other in our interactive forum You may meet future team members or make new partners.
Winners receive cash and other prizes which will help you launch your startup.
RULES/GUIDELINES
You must form a team of 3 more more people for this week long startup hackathon
Teams must submit a preliminary Business Model Canvas at the start of the event.
Teams may have already constructed a prototype but must work on new feature or product enhancements during the UpNext Fest competition week
Teams will update business canvas based on coaching feedback and lean startup techniques learned throughout the week. Judges will have access to the original and revised business canvas during the judging phase.
UPNEXT 1.0 culminates in a pitch contest. Each team will give a five minute presentation/pitch explaining the business model and demonstrating the minimum viable product (prototype). An additional five minutes will be allotted for questions from the judges.
Teams are required to explicitly state what they’ve worked on during the week during their presentation. Judges will be looking at what each team accomplished during the competition week in addition to the business model and market potential of each product and service.
