Internet of Things: Building Smart Devices - Pt 2 (of 2) (5 Award Hours)
24 May - 10:00 AM
,
*** This event is linked to PART 1 running the day before - you shold attend both parts. *** A course in linking environment sensors to software in order to control the environment and create “intelligent buildings” The idea is to create software/hardware devices to enable an Internet of Things to be developed. The course looks at linking sensors (touch, light, temperature, distance etc.) to Java software (or other languages) to control external devices such as lights, locks, heating controls etc. Very suitable from cross-subject development, eg. linking sensors to interactive art, or to laboratory equipment control, controlling media and many other application areas. Format of the labs is along the lines of a guided “hackathon” with groups of people developing projects in a suitable area decided by the group. Programming experience useful, though not essential as will be working in teams. Skills: Knowledge / Problem-solving / Teamwork / Communication / Enterprise Event run by: Nick Whittaker
