The CryptoDabathon
20 Apr - 03:20 PM
Los Angeles, United States
The CryptoDabathon is LA's premier 4/20 event uniting the cannabis and crypto communities, centered on a 48-hour hackathon to develop blockchain solutions for the cannabis industry. Participation will be capped at 150 participants who will form teams of up to 7 people maximum to develop an idea/project/company that leverages blockchain to solve a real problem in the cannabis industry.
Beginning on Friday afternoon teams will form and work throughout the weekend on their idea which they will then pitch on Sunday to a judges panel who will determine the top 3 winners which will carry prizes including tokens, developer tools, and CryptoDabathon swag.
Participants must RSVP on Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-cryptodabathon-tickets-44725594457) and should join our Telegram group (@cryptodabathon).

Problem Statement:
“The cannabis industry is one of the fastest growing segments of the global economy despite lacking banking, digital marketplaces, trust between operators, and software tools. Cryptoassets have the potential to revolutionize how cannabis business is conducted from the ground up, yet there are currently no real solutions that are widely used and that actually solve problems.”
Lack of access to banking and merchant services, costly and burdensome seed-to-sale tracking software, and unsophisticated supply chain management software are all major challenges facing operators in the cannabis industry. Many of these seemingly intractable problems can be resolved in an elegant and effective manner by implementing solutions based on blockchain technology. The CryptoDabathon will bring together the world’s leading experts in cryptography and cannabis to develop blockchain solutions for the cannabis industry.
Who is this for?

Brother Mobile App Hackathon
23 Mar - 06:00 PM
Irvine, United States
Who Should Attend?
The Brother Mobile App Hackathon is designed to encourage developers, designers, business professionals, and students to submit software apps or prototypes that integrate with a Brother QL Label Printer, or a Brother RuggedJet printer/labeler. Each team will receive a brand new QL-820NWB printer and supplies. Team can keep the printer as long as the team members participate in the competition. Judged by key influencers within the industry, the Contest seeks to identify talented individuals and teams from across the U.S. The prizes will be awarded to the best entries submitted.
What Should We Do?
Anyone with any idea that can challenge coders and graphics designers should sign up and present the idea. An iOS or Android coder can spend as little as 30 minutes to download the SDK and have the printer working within minutes. The graphics designer will design the output that the coder can print. The team will design a great user experience. Together you will try to complete the mobile app as much as possible using any one of the Brother's printers. There are lots of things you can do. You can validate your ideas, find talented people from Southern California, and enjoy a great event. The best part is that you can start now or start on March 23rd. But why wait? Grab a free ticket and we will match you with coders and designers. We will email you a Hackathon Reference guide after you register at Eventbrite.

“Without a clear understanding of the human side of virtual reality, the experience will always fail.” (Jason Jerald)
Designing for virtual reality is an incredibly complex challenge. When done well, these experiences can be brilliant and pleasurable, but when done badly, they can result in frustration and sickness. In this free 3-hour workshop Jason Jerald, author of The VR Book: Human-Centered Design for Virtual Reality and Co-Founder & Principal Consultant of NextGen Interactions, through a combination of use cases and demonstrations will show how users perceive and intuitively interact with various forms of reality, discuss the causes of VR sickness, and demonstrate how to employ useful and pleasing content to create an immersive experience.
When you leave the workshop, you will understand virtual reality from the human experience perspective, allowing you to better create – or simply appreciate – powerful VR applications, whether for entertainment, education, science, healthcare, or the myriad of other uses of this new and exciting technology.
This workshop is for everyone, whether a developer, content creator, filmmaker, or simply someone interested in knowing more about VR.
