Houston Inventors is proud to present the PowerUp Houston Hackathon this year at the Mini Maker Faire. The theme will be sustainability to further our efforts as a society in conserving energy and water. Both hardware and software projects are allowed, and the venue will provide access to Rapid Prototyping equipment like 3D printers. Participation is limited to highschool and college students only.

WHAT IS A HALF HACK?
A half hack is not too dissimilar from the running event 5k run to a marathon. It allows you to experience a Hackathon atmosphere with your peers. If you’ve heard of a hackathon, it’s a much bigger deal and pretty intense with a technical push. We’re here to spread learning, encourage sharing of knowledge, and more importantly increase your curiosity about technology!
WHAT WILL WE BE DOING AT THE HALLOWEEN HALF HACK for 13 hours?
4-H and TAMUHACK will help you learn code at your level of skill. We'll be using Scratch and if you're more advanced, we'll have a training category for you too!
Note To Parents: All helpers will have a working with children background check.

UNT Sustainability Hackathon will give students the power to affect real change towards a more sustainable campus. The We Mean Green Fund has partnered with Innovation Greenhouse to host a hackathon the weekend prior to Earth Day 2016. Students will work to solve important issues of campus sustainability related to water conservation, energy conservation, biodiversity, alternative transportation, air quality, carbon footprint, and other issues of environmental concern. All projects will have the opportunity to submit a complete proposal to the We Mean Green Fund, and can have their vision of a sustainable campus brought to reality! Participants will have access to experts in the sustainability field, and thought-provoking lectures will be held. Leave your mark at UNT, reduce UNT’s impact on the environment, and gain valuable experience in project leadership as you collaborate to hack UNT’s sustainability!
