Co-Hosted by Laguna Beach Entrepreneurship Fusion  Monster VR and Laguna Beach Entrepreneurship Fusion are hosting an early Halloween event and showcasing a few of the winning VR experiences from our recent Hackathon with Titmouse Animation Studios. Have dinner with us, demo some horror VR experiences in the bungalows and get into the spirit before heading off to your Halloween plans! We encourage Halloween attire.  Attendees are welcome to order food and drinks from the menu and enjoy the serene nighttime ocean view. Collaborate with your peers to build an IoT or mobile Smart City app that uses datasets provided by the City of San Diego. Your app must help better serve citizens of San Diego. Female high school and college students! Create a platform where Girl Force USA members can connect to other members, mentors, and potential employers. »Challenge 2: Creative Repurposing to Reduce Waste: Build a web app or mobile game to engage youth encouraging them to creatively repurpose used items into useful resources.

This is a hackathon where you can turn your crazy ideas into real stuff. Startup UCSD is giving you the opportunity to hack away at a particular problem with a particular end-user in mind and coming up with a solution in the form of a product or service that people would actually want. It is the time to bring out those ideas, to add the finishing touches to current projects, and to create something completely new. There is no specific theme. You are open to work on any good idea!

​This is a 12-hour event open to all female high school and college students to come and work on websites, games, or mobile apps that address a real world challenge. There is no prior programming experience required! programming is allowed until the day of the event. ​Projects will be judged in 4 categories: Appropriateness to Theme, User Experience & Functionality, Originality & Impact, and Technical Difficulty.

ProtoHack exists to show non-coders that they can create something amazing from nothing. We empower and enable the non-technical community with the tools, knowledge and connections that will help bring their idea to life and visually communicate it through prototyping. How does it work? No coding is required. Instead you will use prototyping tools, drag and drop editors, mockups, wireframes and anything else you can think of to VISUALLY demo your idea on stage. (We’ve put together the best tools for non-coders, so don’t fret if you’ve never prototyped.) Although we encourage you to try some prototyping tools prior to attending ProtoHack, we will begin ProtoHack with optional educational workshops on how to use some of the top prototyping tools. You can choose to prototype alone or form a team with other participants and decide on an idea together. Teams can be up to 5 people. You will have 9 hours to produce a prototype. (Remember, you are creating a lean prototype of your idea and it doesn't need to be perfect. The focus should be on visually showing what the idea is.) The Basement's student-centric mission is to encourage the spirit of UC San Diego students by helping and educating them in the startup business process. This time, they want to offer students a chance to participate in a software hackathon sponsored by Webroot, the Entrepreneur Challenge, UCSD Career Services Center and IEEE.
