Money20/20 Hackathon
21 Oct - 01:00 PM
Las Vegas, United States
Three years ago, Money20/20 launched what is now regarded as the best FinTech Hackathon in the world. Taking place in a massive ballroom in the beautiful Venetian resort right on the famous Vegas Strip, the now legendary Money20/20 Hackathon attracts developers, designers and entrepreneurs from all over the world, all hoping to strike it big, hackathon-style. This year, some of the worlds most noted and recognizable FinTech companies will present innovative and fun challenges that will stimulate your Hacking skills and inspire you to new levels of creativity.  This isn’t your typical hackathon. Say goodbye to wooden folding chairs and junk food, and hello to more than 500 fellow hackers competing across new challenges and for $125,000 in cash prizes. Oh, and each sponsor has their own additional prizes. You’ll want to get your ticket quick, because this one sells out FAST. Remember: You MUST have a computer or device that works on 5ghz wifi.  If you do NOT, you should purchase a wifi converter for your device before the event.  This is covered in your travel stipend. We will not have any wifi other than 5ghz at the event.  Huge Prizes What’s a hackathon without prizes? This year, 10 winning developer teams will be rewarded in a big way. Money20/20 will present (5) $20,000 prizes and (5) $5,000 prizes, and each sponsor will be bringing their own prizes too. The overall winning team will also be able to present their solution (along with 23 other entrepreneurs) as part of Money20/20's “Startup Pitch at Money20/20” event, a 3-minute pitch competition that provides companies with a forum to showcase their leading-edge innovation in front of an audience of investors, media and other ecosystem participants. Four finalists will then “Pitch Off” for the grand prize on the Money20/20 main stage during Keynotes on Tuesday, October 24th, where the audience will decide the winner. Sponsor Challenges and Prizes   This year’s sponsor prizes range from VIP tickets and an expenses-paid trip to SXSW, a VIP experience in New York City, over $40K in cash, and all the tech gadget your heart desires.   Check out our full list of challenge and sponsor prizes!  Judging Winners of the Money20/20 Hackathon will be selected by a panel of judges comprising industry experts hand-picked from our challenge sponsors.   Judging will take place in two rounds, each in a live presentation format without slides or pitch decks: Round 1 is a one-on-one session between the team presenting its solution, and the judge from the Challenge sponsor for whom the solution was developed (e.g., Challenge sponsor “x” will judge team submissions for their challenge). Each sponsoring company will select two finalists to advance to Round 2. Round 2 takes place Sunday afternoon as the full Money20/20 crowd begins to arrive onsite. We expect some attendees will join us during this round of judging, where the top 20 teams will present their solutions with full A/V support in front of our full complement of judges. Each team’s submission will be scored in each round based on the following criteria with a minimum score of 0 and maximum score of 20 points, with the final score being the average of the judges’ scores: Simplicity (5 points): Is the application simple to use and can the team explain it clearly in three sentences or less? Creativity (5 points): How creative was the team in developing an innovative solution for the Challenge? Impact (5 points): Did the team create an application that can have a real and valuable impact? Design (5 points): Was the UX/UI intuitive and appealing?  Judges Carol Juel CIO, Synchrony Financial Bruce Parker Founder & CEO, Modo Joe Kleinwaechter Head Innovation & Design, Worldpay Ilkay Can  Head of Client Engagement, Visa Developer Vinay Pair Stephane Wyper Senior Vice President, New Commerce Partnerships & Commercialization Yannick Bercy Sr. Dir, Product Management, Digital Developer Platform Registration Just $10 holds your place at the Money20/20 Hackathon. Sponsoring companies may have their own terms and conditions for proprietary technology or content.   Is there a Participation Agreement?
